Nice like what you did with the Dash and welding up the unwanted Holes and getting rid of the Vents , + the Foam in the Back where them vents rusted One day Im going do some thing along them Lines , I might weld up those Back vents tho

Any chance you have a video of the exhaust ? I went to reuse my vanagon and the cat is HOLLOW, and the muffler is brand new...I bought the small car header in stainless but don't want to drop another 600-750 for the cat, muffler, and tailpipe parts...I saw a blue vanagon, a magnaflow muffler, and an Ontario plate on a video but hell if I can find it...custom made and sounded good like yours.

WOW. Great job,and car. So if you take the necessary steps to level the surfaces, and the necessary steps done correctly, it isn't necessary to strip the car to bare metal, and have a show car finish? Wondering if you believe not stripping this car bare had any regrets? I own a 74 convertible, that is very solid,and has great paint except one small area. Keep going back and forth about removing the body, and stripping to metal. Want a car to look like yours, and not spend a fortune, and more time than necessary. Any advise?

I noticed the degree of rot & corrosion of the body, just above the rear Wheel Arch. I never liked the urethane foam that VW placed between the body panels in this area, as the foam remained damp / moist - and caused all of that rot! I decided that all of the foam cladding had to go! Allow the panel interiors to breathe and stay dry. Yes, the car is only slightly noisier, but it's nice to know that the work of cutting-out sections and repairing - cannot be undone (again) by this horrible foam. Simple Cavity Wax would've been better in those 'hidden' spots.

I kind of agree with some other comments as i do really like the look of the VW and the music of Rush but i would have liked to hear the Susie. Motor in the vehicle as i too like the unique exhaust note they make ! And maybe a picture of the engine bay since. One of the big attractions for this conversion is how nice the Subaru looks like it belongs there as well as the performance of course

very nice work, however I dont really get why, besides fenders and paintjob, you made it look like just any other average bug

1966 VW Karmann Ghia and Type 3 models first used 4 lugs wheel system, they also have ventilating slots on wheels with flattened hub caps, replacing the "dome" hubcaps. Later the 1968 VW Beetles did use 4 lugs on its wheels, replacing the 5 lugs system. Same thing applied with a 1971 VW Type 2 models, including the Microbus and Westafalia Camper models.

Yes, they were quite advanced....the second-generation (`65 and later) had basically a scaled-down version of the Corvette suspension, which eliminated all the previous handling issues. Viton rubber seals eliminated the oil leaks, making them extremely reliable. It`s a shame that GM stopped production, replacing them with the TRULY shitty Vegas and Chevettes.

There was once a time that I would avoid 1302's and 1303's like the clap. That changed once I rode in one that felt like it ran on rails I have a 68, looking for the right oval window and 67 but I think I'll pick up a 1302 bug and build an all out Porsche killer

Were the reinstallation of the tabs in the doors necessary? I thought with the missing tabs, converting back to two-piece windows would be easier since you wouldn't have to contend with the tabs when installing the vent wing.
