I feel like the reason I don't *usually* like music like this is because it's in 12 edo. This opens up so many possibilities PS, I am in love with this song

Hey Brendan. Your work, for a long seasoned music lover like me is, short of a better word, a bonus life, a miracle. Not that I'm tired of much excellent "conventional" music around that we all know and love, but you are exploring very interesting sounds and emotions. Thanks for that, we know there's much hard work to get to this. Bless you, man. I'll be sharing your creations with friends here in Spain, so they can enjoy them too !!!

new sub ober fromthat interview… whats weird: instruments sound microtonal, but your vocals not. are they „normal“ 12 tone or is that a psychotinal phenomenon? very enjoyable music. got a childhood trauma: when i first saw star wars in the eighties, that scene where they go into a bar on tatooine before obiwan hacks of that hand with the lightsaber… ther is a band of aliens playing… 1930ies dixie beebop jazz. i jumped up in protest screaming: no thats wrong! that can be the music if the future! thats more like it.
@romeolzАй бұрын
the vocals are microtonal too, but we're used to pitch inflection in singing already, perfect autotune 12edo vocals sound robotic, compared to 12edo instruments which are almost always perfectly in tune
@n.penston8341Ай бұрын
My first thought is; it'd be cool to collaborate with whoever made this. We don't exactly make the same kind of music, but it feels like we are in same niche in many ways. I just finished up and released a project so I have a lot of free time and creativity.

love your music, what atre you tunig a t0? have you tried 432hz, and did you noticed difference?
@BrendanByrnesMusicАй бұрын
thank you very much! I'm tuning to "standard tuning", so the guitar is in 4ths except for a M3 between the G and B strings. I can't remember offhand what is is tuned to but it's not 440. I don't do the 432hz thing. I've based my guitar tunings off of C (261Hz I think?) so that it lines up with retuned MIDI and synthesizers

What doesn't sound good about it? The washing chord in the background?
@sashasmokes721Ай бұрын
@cn1506 i think it's the fact that only the guitar is microtonal; the solo, especially in the beginning, sounded far too discordant and chaotic. Im no music theorist or anything, thats just me 😅
@romeolz25 күн бұрын
@@sashasmokes721 the background is microtonal as well; microtonality is an acquired taste and it rarely resonates with people instantly, kinda like coffee

If you want to play alien out of tune sounds based on wrong ceonceptions of harmony which are not holistic, then take the adivce of this video. But if you want to play really in tune, perfectly in tune, ACTUAL just intonation, play in Pythagorean just intonation and spell notes and chords correctly.
