I am sure this is a super dumb question, but I am going to ask anyway. How do I download your files off of Git? I am in the "Extras/Kicad" folder and see the three sub folders (3D models, footprints, Symbols), but dont know how to save them to my PC. When I googled it, it said I needed to use the green "Code" button and save as zip, but I dont see it. Thanks

This guide is succinct and remarkably comprehensive. You've single-handedly made keyboard design accessible.

Thank you! Now vial detected my handwired macropad. I spent all day figuring out what's wrong, it turns out I need to use "QMK-Vial" (before I try to compile and flashing using "qmk_firmware" and vial not detect my macropad). Anyway, for future video, I rather to view the code longer rather than see the speaker (you), or even if I don't see the speaker at all it will be no problem. You can show your face at intro or at closing. Just a suggestion that you don't need to follow. Thanks again and keep up the good work.

If I have thinner copper wire (say 0.5 mm) could I just use it to connect the rows and columns to the arduino
@joe_scotto5 күн бұрын
You could but you would have to insulate a lot more to deal with shorting. It's better to just use normal wire for the wiring part.
@ccricers5 күн бұрын
If I was designing a tiny keyboard meant for thumb typing, is it usually okay to omit the diodes since you normally won't be pressing more than two keys at a time? I'd be using a special "shift" key with dedicated pin to access extra symbols, etc.

This was awesome - totally agree on the micro-usb situation on the Pico. Such a pain in the butt. Got me thinking, it might be good to design a little PCB that mounts on the bottom of the Pico and breaks out to a USB-C header.

It should be possible with pogo pins.

Hey can anyone help me, i'm so confused. I have a keychron K2 and it's set up in english so the shift+3 function doesn't make a hash they make a £. I cant figure out how to type hash. i want to simply change what shift+3 does using VIA but i cant figure it out for the life of me, it's such a small thing you would think it would be simple. i would also love to change the shift+4 function to a euro sign as well because i live in the Netherlands. can anyone tell me the easiest way to do this? Much gratitude in advance

I would like to use an old wireless keyboard and turn it into a USB keyboard with a wire. I want to remove the wireless controller board inside the keyboard and replace it with an Arduino. Is possible? Thank you.
@domantlen623110 күн бұрын
You showed how to design cases and how to design pcbs. But you didn't show how to do both. I mean, now when we have pcb how to start to create case arround it. Especially - how to re-create the grid? Should we create pcb version with mapped cutouts for keys and import it to CAD program (like Fusion or onshape)? Or can we somehow directly import footprint image as sketch?
@soipark756411 күн бұрын
It seems like a good keyboard for workers as well. Does it rely solely on VIA for key customization, without additional software features like layers or double-tap functionality?

I like the case, I use corne with a dongle (three split keyboards) and an oled display on it.
@Davids3DProjects14 күн бұрын
I have been looking into split keyboards but they are crazy complex or expensive. Finally, a project I think I could afford and do. Thank you for the video and posting the project. I would really go for a mostly assembled PCB board too. (I'm getting old and have a hard time seeing little diodes...lol)
@joe_scotto5 күн бұрын
Getting just diodes on a PCB board is pretty affordable too, it's only when you start adding MCUs that it gets expensive. You can even get sockets soldered from the factory but they're often out of stock unfortunately.

Fantastic but it's quite bad to see the screen cover a bit wobbly. The best is to use a navy colored or actually midnight blue colored screen cover with navy choc blank. But there are no navy colored ones. But the fact is it evolved. Would be better to be used in VIA or QMK in the next upgrade Plus, I heard the news approx 6 months later, 5 column corne will have its aluminum case, too.

So I have an idea and hopefully you can help me bring it to life I recently got into flight simulation on my Xbox as you may or may not know Xbox also accepts a regular keyboard as input I have the rest of my airplanes controls taking care of with thrustmaster joystick and quadrants but there are more switches on an airplane that there are buttons on my peripherals so some of those are binded to the keyboard what I want is to extend the keyboard to a series of physical analog switches to build my own simulation cockpit the peripherals available for Xbox are limited so there's nothing like that that exists my thought process is that a keyboard is a simple switch so how can I transfer that to a more realistic bigger switch? I was thinking of simply taking a mechanical keyboard apart and extending the switches with some wires but I don't know if that will work or if there's a better way

FYI don’t make the same mistake I did. Don’t buy enamel coated copper wire as this will not conduct the signal! It’s meant for coils in electric motors.

Should be able to, the pinout on the nice nano is the same as a RP2040 Pro Micro but you’ll likely have to mess with the firmware.

One possible issue with the low profile keys that the thumb may hit the edge of the case?

Nope, it’s kinda scooped there so your thumb won’t hit.

@anonlegion90967 күн бұрын
@@ggad1899 we are already at silent switches where not only does it make heavy typing jobs satisfying and bearable but it also makes our keyboards office/public friendly because we don't bother other people with the noise our keyboards make. Because "thock" might sound good to you but its just annoying office noise to everyone else
