The beautiful, romantic idea of the band doesn't quite match the musical reality for me. I'm reminded of those things we often hear people talk about fondly - hearth and home, the warmth of family, friends and community. A time in our past when things were different - almost perfect - now seen as a promise of the future. I believe that's a very cool thing, but from what I love about my favourite bands, TW (for me) lacks a true lead vocalist with a signature or singular sound and quality. No stellar voice to capture me the way other bands do. I think they do a masterful job of supporting the lead vocals and spreading them around somewhat. That again points to that romantic, nostalgic feeling of family that I'm sure hooks a lot of people - sisters supporting each other wholeheartedly. As I said, they have this wonderful feel and concept and you really can't help but be transported to a place of precious memories.

Can't really say that you are wrong, this band is musically for me not perfect in any sense but so are many other bands that I have grown fond of. And that is actually what prompted me to make this video, I felt there are so many other things that have propelled this band to where it seems to be.

@@metalandrockzone Everyone has imperfections 😀 And I pretty much agree that there are 'intangibles?' that are a huge part of their success. And in my opinion they arrived at the right time to fill a certain niche. Something fans thought they were missing, or perhaps didn't even know they were missing. To love a band (predominantly female lead rock and metal) I have to connect with the vocalist and there are so many amazing talents out there. I'd probably see TW live if they came to a city close by (in contrast to having travelled the world to see bands I adore) because those intangibles aren't (as) present on a recording. Having thought about it I'd like to replace 'intangibles' with 'little pieces of magic'.

Thank you for your videos and reviews! I first heard of The Warning in 2023 and a fan of them since then. I saw them in Barcelona twice in 2024. As you mentioned, they provide an excellent live experience. One of their concerts was at the Barcelona Rock Fest, which featured heavier bands than theirs (they also were the only band on the main stage with female members during that day). They made a great impression with their performance, even among those who typically prefer heavier music. Another band I recently discovered is Ankor. I don't know if you have heard of them. They combine metal with pop/dance elements and are sometimes described as a mix of Spiritbox and Paramore (I'm not sure if that's your cup of tea). They are based in the Barcelona region and have released several great songs in the past two years. They will be performing in Prague (your hometown if I’m not mistaken) on March 4th, supported by Conquer Divide, who opened for The Warning last year. Their song "Prisoner" is worth checking out.

Yes I know Ankor, they are on my radar of bands to cover in some way. I might check them out in March, Conquer Divide were opening for TW here last year as well.

No reason to go down this route (appearance), though I have serious reservations about the vocals myself. I believe the vocals are fit for purpose in that they do the job required without being memorable. I do think the girls are great. My 'not feeling it' is purely about the vocals which don't compare to the absolute stellar talents out there. I think a lot of shine, a lot of the love and adoration is more to do with the idea of the band. The promise of something that grabs people. Nothing wrong with that, it's a pretty cool story about some very nice girls (or ladies now).

I have seen some of your recent videos, where you talk about The Warning. This video just popped up on my KZbin and reminded me of a story from a number of years back. Def Leppard was scheduled for some shows in Mexico in 2017. They had a show in Mexico City, but no opening act. I guess they left it to the venue to find someone. The opening act was The Warning. They were 17, 15, and 12 years old back then. Def Leppard's manager saw how young they were and thought that they were just going to pretend to play to a backing track, or something. Actually, they had already produced their first album by then. Def Leppard liked them so much, that they invited them on to their next show in Guadalajara.

Wow thats cool, I had not heard about this story. It seems that The Warning is getting a lot of positive feedback from many of the older bands which I think speaks volumes of their quality

I can understand the complaint about Meshuggah. I kinda felt the same when I saw Dethklok; the music is great, but it was basically a soundtrack for a 50-minute long animated video (it was at a metal fest, so these weren't full concerts). Something just felt too robotic. They did absolutely no crowd interaction. Thankfully, I was right in the middle of a light THC gummy, so I just enjoyed the video and the flawless musicianship :P

yes I have seen that on Meshuggah concert I am the problem, not the band. The rest of the crowd goes nuts but I stand there with a frozen face!

A couple of bands I've seen recently that were somewhat disappointing: - Iron Maiden: I love their music, but I don't know if Bruce just had an off day or if his age is finally catching up with him, but he was struggling a lot, especially with the high notes, but also with regular notes - Candlemass: I also really enjoy their music, but live, they're kinda boring. It might be because it was at a music festival and so they were performing outside in the bright sunlight, but it was fun for the first half, but the second half just dragged on. There just wasn't a lot of energy (I realize that this is kind of inherent to the Doom genre, but idk if it was just the performance or what that didn't really work for me)
@metalandrockzone2 күн бұрын
Iron Maiden's last tour was not good, I thought Bruce was the issue (or part thereof) but saw him on his solo shows in the summer (got a video on that) and he was amazing. I hope the Run for your lives tour will be legendary.

From what I have heard from this band, which is somewhat limited, is that it is hard to sound original when your music is so basic and simple.
@metalandrockzone4 күн бұрын
But in some way that simplicity is a key ingredient for them I think to create this massive following they have.
