Great summary of Paul DiAnno ! We cannot judge him and as you say we decide whether or not to buy his albums and concert tickets. Actually, IMO he should be admired for his courage, spirit, and tenacity in face of the issues he had. He will always be a legendary vocalist for me forever. RIP Paul

I saw Maiden in 1980 and they were incredible. Still my favourite line-up, and their first album is still my favourite Maiden LP. RIP Mr Di'Anno.

And so, my friend, on Monday I said goodbye to my eternal poster of my teenage room, to my first ever cassette, plaid in those first Sony Walkman from the US … and in fact I said goodbye to a piece of myself. I entered metal music because of Paul Di Anno. I still have many many mourning thoughts. Thanks for this tribute. I saw him in Athens 2/12 and he was really good … 2-3 days before he passed away I had ordered The Book of the Beast … Adio Paul…🖤

Same story than many other people, my first metal album ever was gifted to me by a school mate, ''Iron Maiden''. Having noticed previous Maiden albums covers in shops before that, I thought it looked cool and was eager to try - tape went straight into the walkman immediately. By the time I got to Running Free, I was hooked and subsequently became a metalhead. Full credits to Paul Di 'Anno for introducing me to that world - only really paying attention to the band when Phantom of the Opera played next, glad your video shown him singing Running Free - when I think of that song I have his voice in my mind, not Bruce's. He's running free now.

I saw him about 20 years ago in Belfast and he was excellent. Way better than what I have heard him doing in recent times. He was very nice after the gig and signed my Battle zone albums and Iron Maiden albums and his book. I was also throwing cigarettes at him too, one of which he smoked. Oh and he nearly started a fight with a guy in front of me to which myself and friend kind of defused.
@metalandrockzone2 ай бұрын
Amazing guy, he just didn't change, which in some weird way is adorable

@@metalandrockzone well he was always a hero to me, but I must say when I read his book I thought he came across not so good. I will always love the Maiden albums he did and the Battle zone 80's albums and first Killers album though, such good material.
@dt69492 ай бұрын
You are quite right when you say we have no right to say who should still perform or quit but I just think it is so sad to see his legacy in Maiden potentially destroyed by such endeavours. And to blame a promotor for the poor turn out is not really a fair point. People obviously decided that this is too difficult to watch and made their own decisions as to whether they would go to the gig. I feel so sorry for the guy as he had his demons and they never let up throughout his life. Sadly missed. For me I'd much prefer to put on the first two albums and remember him from much better times... Great review nonetheless Thanks.
@metalandrockzoneАй бұрын
Well this promoter is on a different level. I am very well connected here to people that go and see gigs all the time, there are just 2-3 shows pr year in the whole country that do not get on my radar but ironically these 2-3 shows are all from this same promoter. In this case for example I know a lot of people who would have happily made the drive out there to see this but had no clue it was going on , the guy just doesn't seem to do any marketing at all. But I am not saying that at this stage Di'Anno would have sold out an arena but at least 150 people or so would have been there if this would have been put on their radar. Thanks for watching and yes this guy put a big footprint on the genre and we will miss him.

I don't get why people were surprised by his death . He has been living in a nursing home for several years was wheel chair bound and almost died at least a couple of times and never quit or even slowed down on his drug and alcohol intake and chain smoked right untill the end .
@metalandrockzone2 ай бұрын
Agree that this end for him was not a surprised but I somehow when I saw him didnt see it coming in just 10 months from there based on how he gave it all he had there on the stage.
