Iv recently been diagnosed with crohns in particular the terminal ilium is inflamed.azathioprine has been recomended and i have been talking myself out of signing the paperwork to be given this drug .mainly for the reasons you have spoken about.i like to stay fit as I can as a 54 yr old and cycling is my interest but i know my stomach issue is holding me back.i tend to get mild flare ups but on s good day i feel fine and think im ok and so ill do exercise etc .i know its not going away and i tell myself just eat healthy and or do a juice plan(Jason vale style) which has helped a lot of people i believe. Or do i bite the bullet and take the medication and see what happens .my sleep isnt good at tge mo even after a lie in at weekend i dont feel completely rested which I'm sure is all ibd related.fatigue is the one at the mo although iron supplements help.i agree we cant live in fear. over what ifs.

Hello Mr Jacob . I am 16 now , about to be 17 in a few months. I got "diagnosed" with crohn's disease on August 2024 and was on mesalezine (3g a day) till November but during the checkup they said that it was getting worse from within, now there are 3 partial strictures in my jejunum and illium. They have now started the loading doses of Inflaximab and i have already took 2 . My next appointment is on 18th January 2025 . I am this medication atleast keeps my symptoms in check , i dont want to go towards a surgery. I have several important exams coming up and this disease has absolutely tore apart on my physique. I used to be a rather healthy boy but since almost 5 years i have lost a lot of weight and now i am suffering from too many deficiencies to mention . I do feel a little better after the Inflaximab doses ( it has been 1 month since 1st dose , 15 days since second ) but i was hoping for it to totally disappear for that cost of medication. I still suffer from pain in the evening almost every other day . I never had any other direct symptoms, its just the pain that lasts about 4-8 hours in the evening and some random pain any other time of the day ( though its rare) 😢

The Christmas holiday is the most difficult time of the year for people who are vulnerable to digestive problems. I hope everyone can minimize their stress and unhealthy habits during the holidays, and continue a healthy lifestyle into the new year! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Jacob!

Hi! I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 2015 with only one mild flare, right up until I got a Covid vaccination in 2021. Ever since then I have had seven flares, and one so bad i was hospitalized and very close to having surgery to remove my colon. Since then I have been on an oral anti-inflammatory (Mazevant) and just getting off of a Biologic called Entyvio by my choice. Diet , exercise and stress reduction in my opinion is crucial! There are lots of natural anti-inflammatory foods and vitamins available, especially vitamin D3 and fermented foods. Lowe sugar fruits and lots of vegetables good low fat protein and also whey isolate and creatine. So far three months off the Entyvio and so far so good, fingers crossed. Like you said, lots of notes to what works and what does not. Especially falling off the wagon with food and overeating. It can be done in my opinion but it sure does take over ones life. Overwhelming to say the least. All the best to everyone!

In 1975 my Grandmother was taking azathioprine for rheumatoid arthritis. Her white cell count was not being monitored and she caught flu and died. I have crohns and took it for 7 years and it totally saved my life. It's important to get the blood monitored. I start it again in a few weeks. It is a massive help to me.

Hello, new subscriber. I was very glad to come across your channel and have found the content very helpful. I'm very early into my colitis journey, I was just diagnosed 3 months ago after 2 weeks of bleeding and now have found myself in another flare. Just curious if you have any thoughts for someone who has not yet started any medications? I would prefer not to take steroids if at all possible. I personally have found rectal suppositories (meant to shrink and soothe hemorrhoids) helpful and taking slippery elm powder twice a day. I know the bulk of it is diet and I have made changes to remove/reduce gluten and lactose, of course no ultra-processed foods, seed oils, and added sugars.

Pizza is really hard on me as well. I’ve tried it twice. I hope I can eat it every once in awhile bc I enjoy it. I eat super healthy and always had so this is hard. I want to get off of mesalamine totally. It helped stop flare but I was in extreme state when I got it. Diet plays a tremendous role for me.

I'm using Rowasa liquid mesalamine enemas as a maintenance treatment in addition to inflectra infusions and mesalamine pills. I do the enemas a couple of times a week. But when I know stressful life situations are heading my way, then I increase the treatment to nightly. Like you said, the enemas go directly where they need to go, which is fantastic! But they are unpleasant. And I'm also unsure about the effectiveness of the mesalamine pills. I'm a big fan of the enemas, and I think they might prevent me from getting flares in the future. We'll see! I give mesalamine enemas an 8/10. The pills, 3/10.

Thank you for putting these topics so lightly, really great to watch your videos. I have UC for 10 years and been using Mesalazine since then with pretty good results. Of course it is not miraculous, but with the help of other therapies, I've been able to manage my UC pretty well I think.

Just got diagnosed with UC but I feel completely fine. I have no pain or discomfort. I only have blood and mucus in my stool. They said I have both on my right and left side. I am going to start with the steroids. What is UC like with someone with moderate or mild UC?

I was prescribed this drug, but after careful research I refused to take it. Some people can tolerate it without issues, but many people do experience terrible side effects. Thiopurines are cytotoxins and they comprimise the immune system. These drugs stop you from building antivodies to everything, not just infliximab.
