Hey. Great video. I'm super interested in something similar around this price point, perhaps one just a bit lighter - Really appreciate your talking points and thoughts. I hit the sub button. Cheers.

Does anybody have any thoughts on car camping being the culprit here. I don't think this is such an issue with hike-in campsites where campsites have smaller foot prints and people can only bring what they can carry. But I'm not sure? I am thinking it only becomes a problem when vehicles can access a camp site and people can bring their entire house with them and drop it off for the day or a week. Maybe it's inevitable and it's actually the type of camping enjoyed which needs to change? Car and caravan camping is definitely needed though, like disabled carparks are a must have.

For mossies in camp after dark - during the day collect a bucket full of dry cow pats, and then throw some on the fire. It stinks something horrible, but really works well 😂🤣

Shane, great tips, but camping without a fire isn’t camping. Its a picnic.

An old dual fuel lantern is a winner. The bugs are attracted to the light, heat and the co2. The extreme heat then kills the bugs. They are fiddly, smelly and noisy but to me they are proper camping

I'm camping at the Bay of Fires in Tasmania at the moment and the amount of ghost campers is out of control. It's easy to spot them, quite a few in each of the designated camp areas along this strip, pretty frustrating to see so much of it here at this time of year 🙄
@trentjorgensen46296 күн бұрын
I was born in Cohuna. Camping was awesome back then you just lobed up anywhere. There’s a lot of selfish people out camping now the worst I find is the millennial party campers. They rock up in the dark with their flood lights on set up microwave some nuggets Blair music all night keeping you awake then leave first thing in the morning.

Spot on Maaate, what you can do with 12 volt in Ute/van and in my case, off grid home. I’ve recently fitted a Camec 12 volt range hood over my stove as it never had one. My external storage area has 12 volt lighting and a sensor to activate and my outside area is all 12 volt lighting. When I enclosed the western verandah for guest accommodation it’s all 12 volt with a car radio/cd player for entertainment. The world your oyster and you don’t need an electrician, just some common sense and researching. Keep up the good work.

Top job, Shane, I just waiting for my invite 😃 I have had an Aus Spit for years run on D-size batteries, and it's all about the gearing. I spoke to the guy who initially invented it, and it's a fantastic unit. And the best part about it it's Aussie made.

Type 1 and 2 happens at Bribie island. Has been happening for years. Campers book online 6 months in advance, for a low fee of $6-7 to hold 1 site. Not per person, per site. Its $33 to hold 4 large sites.. And this happens on the daily. I often camp there and the island says "full capacity" Not 1 campsite free. However when you rock up to camp, the place is quite empty. Maybe abother 2 or 3 campers Now the government will never intervene and stop this because of two positives. 1) guaranteed income for the Rangers and staff. 2) leas campers equals less rubbish and site destruction, so less work for the rangers. Itll never stop. Unfortunately camping in Australia has become a business and status venture rather than a family weekend out for some fun. I personally blame BCF.

Massive issue on the part of the Murray I'm on a few hours from Cohuna. I've resorted to down sizing my camping setup completely, strap it to an ebike or touring pushie and end up in some areas that I know no one can easily get to via vehicle

Saw this in Kozzie National Park. I was able to book a site, one of only 2 left and when I got there more than half of the sites were empty. Some bloke parked up near me just on the side of the road and we got talking. He told me about this stealth camping and said because of it he sometimes doesnt even book, just rocks up and parks anywhere. So far no one has pulled him up on it and apparently all they can do is ask you to leave.
