You just answered my question I've been having lately. If I look on your channel will I find out if you have a video with steel ingots.

In your other video of the whole process, it looked like you used the green sand only where it contacts the item, then used the unfiltered sand on top of that to compress it all. Or are you only using green sand and no unfiltered sand? Thank you.

I ordered some 5/16" stainless tubing from amazon as well as a x36 tap and die. I think i can make this tool fairly cheap. I was just wondering how long the body of this tool ended up being ?

I love Craig's list...who cares if the chairs are mismatched I want the legs and the table top and those two leaves you move from closet to closet. Like a kid in a candy store

Late, and maybe a crazy idea... Can you heat the chuck, maybe almost to 200 F and dunk the arbor into ice water?

Possibly a stupid question but, Is the sand reusable afterward? I mean in the sense of do you need to mix anything with it post its use like more clay etc or just good to go again, Also are you just using that fine sand mix with clay or just straught normal wet sand? Thanks
@snackpack7636Ай бұрын
I should mention I ask this because I saw a video of a guy using aquarium sand and mixing it with 5-10% kitty litter (clay) and light water to make a mould able sand

You forgot to include a place (port) on the case head that you can measure the bullet / case combo with a caliper blade. Also you need to expand the case necks (or ream) to .002" over the bullet diameter. The push rod you furnish will also not allow you to measure on the centerline of the case bullet combo. I doubt that 5/16" tap was able to work on the 223 case heads as the coarse threads will detach the base at the extractor grooves on the case. Ask me how I know. Grin. But nice machine work.

Never seen that solution before it worked. I thought you would have to use a hydraulic press to press it out from the inside of the chuck.

I had a friend who lost 3 fingers when his angle grinder blade exploded. Absolutely a true story. Wear leather gloves, and a face shield, when using that cutting tool. That thing is spinning much faster than you think. You have been advised.

The Americans dont realise that the original 'Greensand' comes from Southeast England. It's of Cretaceous age, a natural sand with a fine clay content and furthermore is actually green when freshly dug due to the presence of Glauconite. They think that they invented it and named it 😂😂

Battery acid is dangerous to work around in open air. The fumes can ignite and blow up the work area. Therefore, do not use a gas stove or work in area of one. Need to be ready with a solution to neutralize any spills. Wear a face shield as well to protect the face and eyes in the event of an explosion or spill.

From my Foundry experience, this is really a cheap, simple, and fast way of making Green sand. One thing that we do to reduce cost is use fine sand (your process) around the pattern and use coarse sand above it. This would help in two ways. Your fine sand requirement will be very small and coarse sand enables the gas pass through easily. After seeing this video, I have a curious question on a different subject. In my back yard, there is a 800 sq ft of easement. Weed paper and mulch didn't help me to remove weeds. Do you know this Green sand takes care of the weed as it contains clay?
