Nice! If I may, unless you intended to do so there is an error in the second measure soprano voice.
@RhadMusic2 күн бұрын
@@mensah-j Yes, you are not wrong! Looks like it went well with the counterpoint and motif so I missed it.
@mensah-j2 күн бұрын
@@RhadMusic It's interesting because your version does match the alto in 6ths which is nice. However, in the manuscript, if you look at the bass line on the next beat you will see that Bach wrote an imitation of the soprano (3 steps down then a leap up by a fifth), which is also pretty.

Thank you for sharing, you play this very well. It's hard to believe indeed this is actually by Pergolesi, although this allemande has a kind of italian feel to it I think
@RhadMusic5 күн бұрын
Thank you! It's actually disputed, it may not be by Pergolesi, but it's only published under his name, and it's a beautiful sonata. I've also noted it in the description.

Third bar of the second section (2:28)... are you sure you counted that correctly? You compressed third and fourth beat, playing in 3/4 for a bar :D Apart from that, bravo! Nice piece, I didn't know it!

Unfortunately, this work is not considered to actually be by Pergolesi. It's probably part of the Lessons put out under his name in England. The only keyboard piece thought to be legitimately by him is a Sonata if F for Organ (which I typeset for IMSLP)
@RhadMusic11 күн бұрын
Oh I didn't know it's disputed! Maybe that's why it's not on IMSLP. It's beautiful anyway... I'm looking forward to recording the last movement!
@HiltonFernandes11 күн бұрын
Are you sure of that ? There's a score of this sonate by Pergolesi, as the channel maintainer informed in another post.
@grantco211 күн бұрын
@HiltonFernandes There's a scholarly edition of Pergolisi's complete works. That's where I read it. Also where I found the actual sonata.

This piece is not by Purcell, it is commonly misattributed to him but is in fact from William Croft - this ground by Croft shares similarities to Purcell’s Ground in E.
