Exactly 🥹 I thought this might have a special meaning relating to the key, as this would've been so much easier in D flat major, but then I learned that he composed this fugue originally in C major... So probably the only explanation for the sharps is to exercise.

More accidentals = easier to play for your hand. C major/A minor is the worst scale ergonomically
