It always amazes the number of times I've taken drum brakes apart only to find parts missing or stupid bodges. Even did wheel bearing where they'd left off all the lock nuts! You really need to check a car when you buy it, especially to safety critical parts.

Wow, what a nice save, to to keep this rarely-optioned K car going. I enjoy driving mine (88 Aries wagon). The grease fitting will be your friend in the years ahead, to keep that unassisted rack turning as easily as possible.

I watched this video because my 97 wasn't making full contact. I wasn't fond of drilling a hole and not being able to tighten it. So I cut a soda can down and made a shim. Slide back on and works perfectly. Also if anybody has any problem finding a brake light switch for a 97-98 almost any ford switch from those years will work on the car as well. Mine has a 97 f150 switch

Interesting video. My 04 has 217,000 but a timing chain guide broke, got into the pickup tube and robbed the engine of oil damaging it. The engine got rebuilt but I'm still in search of a coolant crossover tube. Apparently that type is specific to the Mercury marauder. Thanks again for the video.

A very nice video Richard, thanks for taking so much trouble. I noticed while you were refitting the left side king pin to the axle it appears you have a gap where the front axle stabiliser rod bolts onto the axle (you can see daylight in the joint), might be worth checking.

When you first turned the key, I heard a spark sound by the battery. The battery terminal lost contact with the post.

You don’t use a carpenter’s hammer for mechanical work…..totally useless and unprofessional…….
@majordickhardin774625 күн бұрын
Yeah, my dad wouldn't have approved.. One also doesn't use a vice, on a picnic table, for a hydraulic press... but the point of showing us what he did, and how he used what he had on-hand, is to promote self-reliance and the hobby. If you are a professional, you shouldn't have watched it long enough to see the claw hammer.

Is your garage door opener stuck on the gas tank by a magnet or velcro?

Velcro, but not garage door opener. Cheap bicycle turn signals mounted in the rear window.

How's the Model A running? Got mine out for a drive today after a couple of months. Cold weather and work have kept me from running around in mine very much. Hope to see some more from you soon. Good luck.

So true but such compromises are why the guy above said the Model A brakes only "impede progress". People just can't believe that Henry's ways were actually quite precise. This video is a good example, though, of what most Model A brakes look like under the shiney paint, etched wind wings, American flags, and chrome rock guards. Better now than most with the front plates replaced. Good job.

Mr. Applegate - I have watched a couple of your videos and thank you for your efforts. I did notice that you do not have a fuse on your starter. Unless you have a fuse in another location, I strongly recommend that you install one. Two of our club members have had electrical fires in the last year. Neither had any current protect, and both caused a good bit of damage.
