Lol..true But in my country it's really hard to find someone that's genuinely asexual...cuz Some hetrosexual men even fake it to get a partner..so as a woman I feel like i also have to be extra careful...it seems impossible to find the genuine ones!!💜

I hope I ask this in the right way so forgive if my wording somewhat clumsy. As an asexual person who wishes to date, do you see gender as an issue? For example, would you date a women or man if there isn’t sexual attraction? Again sorry if that not the right way to ask this and accept my apologies if this question offends. I’m just curious and learning. Much love Alex

@@bekinder56 Romantic orientation is not linked to sexual orientation. So yes, gender plays a role. An asexual person can be hetero-, bi-, homo- etc pp or aromantic.

Sexuality is normal and natural. I don't understand why would you want to get rid of this from your life; there is absolutely no proven benefit, on the contrary. This is simply plain stupid and certainly not something to be proud of over the internets. You will regret deeply later on when you will eventually grow up and your narcissism will fade away.

@@Liradu2 Whatever dude. this is presented as celibacy, the guy seems proud he did not spank the monkey and that he is a virgin; a person without sexual desire would not brag about it. On the contrary, asexual people do suffer because they don't feel sexual attraction. Asexuality is extremely rare. It is more likely this is actually celibat and quite frankly we have no way to prove the guy does not masturbate frantically when he is offline, why one should believe his statement? He is doing this for the likes; classic narcissism.

If you watch some of my previous videos from years ago you'll realise I was never at all 'proud' of being this way and really wished I wasn't. In past relationships I really tried to force myself into liking sex since it would have made my life a lot easier if that were the case and constantly got upset and frustrated at myself for not liking it. Regarding the statement on masturbation, why would I lie about that? This is definitely not something I'm 'proud' of and just wanted to tell my story. I don't know where this sudden sense of hate comes from as it's really a shame to read such a comment here

Yoooo it’s so cool to hear your 10-year perspective, Alex! Love hearing how things have changed over time for you. Your points reminded me of 2 relevant stories from my last few months! Thought I’d share. I had a conversation with a younger friend who is closer to that super sex-focused stage in life than I am. Overall, they learned a lot as we were talking about compulsory sexuality, and thought that people of other sexualities have a lot to learn from ace people. It was cool to share all the knowledge and language I have with them as they navigate relationships and their personal needs in their own way! The ace community showed up for me during a big event this year, so I totally feel you on how great our online community is! It was cool to be able to reach out for help and get support from people who get it! Specifically, I asked on AVEN about surviving difficult medical procedures/exams that get complicated under layers of asexuality, sex repulsion, and gender dysphoria, and people helped me reframe and gain perspective that really helped me cope! It was amazing to find help for such a niche question among understanding and kind forum members ⭐️

It's also really cool to hear you've become somewhat of an educator when it comes to talking about such topics too. I agree though, I feel we can really offer an insight into this realm as asexuals.

I realized I was ace when I was 15, and just passed the 10 year mark myself a few years ago. I relate a lot! It was such a huge deal to me then, especially around 18-19. I've learned a lot about myself and my asexuality since, and finally figuring out that I'm aromantic (around 19yo) helped a lot. I hardly think about either now, and I feel a lot more positively about my future while being aroace, even if the struggles of being 'different' are still there

You confused me when you said about posting every 2 years, because I remember commenting on a more recent video. It turns out that I got the wrong end of the stick 😆 By the end of this week I'll be 12 years into knowing that I'm ACE, but as an older guy I'm still not happy with it, and have only told a select few people because it doesn't define me, so it's none of anyone else's business. Even though I've dabbled with the "community", it's not really a place for me, as the majority of other users are much younger, so we don't have much in common, so I rarely take part these days. Although it did help me feel more understood at the outset of my discovery.

Thank you for your experience. I'm ace too. Please stay away from porn though; it is violent and is used to encourage violence done to women and children. I survived human trafficking and they made porn of the whole thing starting when I was a baby and continuing through my childhood and adolescence and even into my adulthood. The porn you watched probably supported slavery. Even if it didn't, I read that the biggest site for porn has primarily violence as its subject matter according to the research. The women get beaten, choked, strangled and raped. So please don't give your money to the people who use porn as an excuse to torture, exploit and enslave people.

I think you are perhaps a bit confused. If you feel attraction towards the opposite sex, you are heterosexual. Sexual attraction is not just the desire for sexual intercourse, but encompasses attitudes like love and affection. One of the errors of modern society is the decoupling of the sexual act from romance and love. So we now believe you can routinely have sex and experience no love and romance, or only experience love and romance, whilst having no sex. Although both may be true, it is extremely rare and not a normal and healthy expression of sexuality. Some heterosexual people don’t have a high desire for sexual intercourse, or only have a desire for sexual intercourse if it’s combined or resulting from romance and love. This is very normal and describes almost all heterosexual people at some point in time. If you have no desire for sexual intercourse and only desire romance and love from another human being then there could be two reasons - you may have an underlying psychological condition (e.g. autism, OCD, anxiety) or physical condition (e.g. impotence) that can be corrected, or you may instead be called to celibacy and might find a better home in religious life or secular life where there is no commitment to any relationship (singlehood). Celibacy is an entirely normal expression of the human condition (albeit rare). Asexuality is a term that’s often erroneously used to describe people. If persons are seeking romantic relationships with no intention for sexual intercourse, then they are misusing their sexual expression. If persons are masturbating, then they have natural sexual desire that isn’t being fulfilled properly (i.e. with another person). Asexual is often used as a term to paper over issues with sexual expression that people feel nervous or anxious about, including celibacy. Some women use the term asexual in particular to cover over severe anxiety about sexual expression, say anxiety about being bullied or pressured into sex by men. Don’t hide from your sexual expression using terms like asexual. Be more bold to explore whether or not relationships are for you, and if so, how you can learn to more healthily expression love and sexual intercourse together.

I’ve gotten it from a few of my friends lately and it’s hard to respond because they’re usually saying it because they’re coming from a bad breakup or struggle with short term relationships and such, so I never really want to correct them that no, being ace isn’t the answer to all their prayers, but also I feel bad lmao. I’ve gone through similar growth. I am an American in my mid 20s and just got out of a long-term long distance relationship with another ace that didn’t work out. I had another short term local relationship with another ace in my teens. Both of them were online, and I actually met them both on the same asexual dating site which is no longer very active and that I have deleted my account on. I don’t intend on pursuing romance again until I complete my time at a university I’m about to attend. I’m lucky enough to be sex indifferent, so if I happen to meet an allosexual guy that I click with in real life during that time that accepts me for who I am that’s great. But right now, I am learning to be content in my singleness, and to be OK with the fact that I may never get married or have children even though I would like to have that in my future as a heteromantic asexual woman.

Thank you sharing your insight. As a demisexual/asexual woman, what I basically look for is the closeness of a relationship (company, reciprocity, trust), minus the more sexual component of it. I was in a relationship with an allosexual man, and it was quite challenging for both of us, because of our opposite needs. I wish there was more visibility and acceptance. I also prefer sleeping by myself, but that doesn't mean I don't crave emotional connection. It's a difficult situation to be in.

Asexuality is not aromanticism. Both are spectrums. Attitudes towards the acts are also a spectrum. Feeling differently in what sounds like a one off situation does not come anywhere near invalidating anything. You just found the mythical one they keep telling us about. So... congrats i guess? Hope it goes well. Your aceness is still valid!
