I use to run a similar setup. I had a F-250 Dually towing a 38’ 5th Wheel. I put a receiver hitch in the front and carried a 400 Bergman Scooter. The only issue I had was that I couldn’t tow after dark. Because the scooter blocked my headlights. Solution: I mounted to new headlights on the scooter carrier.

Great video. For the pin instead of trying to keep it in the truck find a place on the bike rack drill the proper size hole and then you will always have the pin with the rack. Saying I will keep something important with the truck has not always worked out for me

Nice set up. Right take it slow keep checking. I like that motor bike. Fun for trail riding. I rather have auto clutch for trail riding but hand clutch I like for street riding. Just my preference . Stop buy tractor supply get extra wing nuts and a holding pin . Keep extras right in truck with extra straps as well. I learned many years ago 1 is none and 2 is 1 . I just talked CB SSB CH 39 right around Quarts fest . Now if you run out of deasil take the bike for a ride with yellow fuel can. Government makes us have correct color fuel cans !

Hi Steve, Great video, he probably already figured out but those straps holding the bike onto the rack probably need to be shorted so you don’t have so much. Those tails getting caught under the truck or in the engine bay would be horrible. Be safe, man. Chat with you later. David

Looks like a bit of C Channel steel would be good on the end for the front tyre (tire) to go into, would help hold it in place and stop it from rolling to far forward when putting the bike on it, or maybe a big u clamp over the front and rear tyres (tires) once its on, to hold it as well, instead of just straps, would just need to weld a bit of steel to the rack for the clamps to go into.
@livingforalivingRV18 күн бұрын
Not a bad idea!
@markw36518 күн бұрын
cut those tails so they don't come undone while you're driving and get caught in a tire. Better to look at the pro-taper tie down straps, which is what we use for dirt bikes. Carabiner swivel at the bottom, soft loop for the bike and velcro tie up. A bit more though, but the quality over the HF straps IMHO is worth it.

You should be able to come up with a wheel chalk for the front wheel. It should help balance the bike in place. That's what i use in the trailer on my Harley. Also the front tie downs either perpendicular to the handles or forward of them. Just the way i have done it for years. Only suggestions. Nice video Steve! 73.
@livingforalivingRV18 күн бұрын
This carrier is a bit weird. Its designed to be loaded from either side, so they don't have the wheel chock part... I'd need to make something (which isn't hard). And there is no place to tie down forward of the handlebars or aft of the rear tire. Great suggestions... can only imagine going down the road with a sub 300lb bike and 12 straps holding it down!

They make a slide, almost like a belt loop to hold the excess strap. You might find something on Thing-a-verse that a friend in North Cali might be able to 3D print for you. You might want to have a cap for the front of the receiver hitch in case someone comes by and hits it. Less of a chance that it will make a bad mark. 73

I put one on the front of my truck a few years ago. I had the same bolt size issue. I also had to drill two holes in my frame which I thought was going to be a real pain to do but was really not to bad. My parking spot for the trailer next to my house is a real pain. With the front hitch it changes that evolution from a frustrating 30 minute team effort with my wife guiding me to being able to park the trailer by myself in about 10 minutes.
