@1524mike Thanks for watching! And yah, that's possibly the most odd thing about that car. Really weird too since it was only sold in countries where the drivers would be used to the stick to their left. I suppose someone new to RHD would appreciate not having to relearn shifting with their offhand, though, heh.

@velocemidwest29 күн бұрын
I don't believe so, or they're very rare specialty items. I don't think Michelin makes theirs anymore. Although the car in this video used TRX tires which were a bit different, and also sort of a failed product like the PAX tires.

Yep. Actually designed by a 13yo boy in Los Angeles to bring back the Ford Falcon badge. Sent in to Ford for a $25 drawing prize in 1979. Reply letter from Ford one year later said that they do not accept unsolicited drawings. Then there she was in the flesh in year one of production.

275 hp? 😂 I had a four-cylinder with 300 hp and 340 pounds of torque in 2003
@youknowit888-kt4en2 ай бұрын
Different strokes 4 different folks. Not everyone likes the sound of a 4 Cylinder engine. Not everyone buys a car with the idea to keep it all original, stock OEM. Some guys pay to own it, others build it to own it. Not a lot of FAMILY SEDAN vehicles came with 275 HP V8 in 2005. So what did you have? Not a lot of 300 HP 4 Cylinder engines in 2005 either. Only one I can think of are those WRX Subaru's... so is that what you had? If so.... kinda dumb comparing your AWD shitbox that cost the same as a Corvette back then to a FWD Family Sedan vehicle class, isn't it? That Bonneville GXP cost half the price and was definitely a more comfortable ride. Those WRXs came stock with 300HP.... and if that's what you say yours had then you must not be into building a car up to make it your own, which is fine... I'm just shocked after all these years, I come across another WRX driver and the arrogance that usually comes with the type of guys that buy that car is still very much alive & well. Something to think about... I had an 2002 Grand Prix GTP Coupe that would beat those WRXs off the jump at a red light in traffic and 1/4 mile strip back in 2005-07. Not on the track though, unless the driver was an idiot. But my 1996 MR-2 would spank the shit out of those WRXs... all day long, every MF day. My 05 AWD Trailblazer SS even won sometimes against those bug eyed retro Ford Pinto lookin ass shyt boxes 😂 made good money off from the arrogance of a Subaru driver. I do respect those cars but I just don't like them. Anyway, hey... my apologies if I got you all wrong. Just trash talking a fellow driver. And I just bought an 05 Bonneville GXP for a new project to fix up and sell. It's just the way you said it... sounded a bit douchey. Like I said, different strokes. I'm probably in the wrong with this long ass comment 😂 but I'm stoned 2 the bone and don't give a fck. I wish all the best sir. If you still have that 4 banger and you're in Michigan, lmk if you want 2 lose some 💰 I got an entire fleet of all kinds of shyt 2 race that Subaru. I got an 88 Ford Probe GT with the engine & trans out of a 2016 Focus RS and $3K and an 8BALL says I'll lap your ass in that WRX 😂
@billspangler26852 ай бұрын
@@youknowit888-kt4en So what's up bro? If I come up to Michigan are we gonna meet up so I can drive that Probe? It's been years since I've had a fast sh!t box, but they are so much fun. Your collection sounds like a hoot to play around with bro. I only have an S197 GT/CS and a 4th gen LT4 Z28, so I really have nothing fun to offer in return though 😅

Wasn't a Northstar in the Pontiac it was a all aluminum 5.3 ls making 300+hp
@velocemidwest2 ай бұрын
That was the Grand Prix GXP that had the LS in it. Bonneville had the NorthStar.
@G8GTJav2 ай бұрын
Northstar was a trash motor. The supercharged 3800 series (Buick 3.8) was way better in the Bonneville. Plenty of power and got great MPG if you kept your foot out of it.
@velocemidwest2 ай бұрын
@@G8GTJav I would love to drive a Bonneville SSEi someday with the supercharged 3800!
@ashes2ashes8632 ай бұрын
NorthStar was solid. In fact a lot of people copied its General design and use it today and racing trim the North Star Motor proved to be quite successful. That being said the 3800 was a far more reliable motor than just about anything. And yes was a supercharger or turbocharger Karma and still proved to be reliable. Even more interesting around this timeline you can buy the Grand Prix GXP, that had the ls 5.3 which was more powerful than the North Star and far more reliable . I like to the Bonneville but I found the last Model Aurora to be a better car than the last Bonneville.
@G8GTJav2 ай бұрын
@ashes2ashes863 I agree with you about the Buick 3.8. Had a GN and a Bonneville SSEI back in the day. Both were great cars and put a lot of miles on each. However, Northstar motors had major issues, at least early on. It was GM's first attempt at casting the aluminum block around the sleeves, and the cylinders would warp. Had a DTS with Northstar, and it was an absolute turd that drank oil like crazy. The dealership kept saying it was within "GM spec." Pricks. Had to get an extended warranty while we kept fighting them to get a replacement motor. When a GM engineer finally showed up to do a teardown, he showed me the bores were severely warped/ out of round. There were areas where you could see the rings had never made contact with the cross-hatching on the cylinder walls. No wonder it drank oil. Replaced the short block but always felt underpowered afterward. Put about 75K on the motor before it developed a rod knock. I've been a GM guy all my life and never had problems like with that Northstar. By the way, when I visited the dealership service center, multiple times, there were several Caddies in the back and in the shop that had their Northstars pulled. That was enough proof for me. This was in the early 2000s.
