lightmeters expose for middle gray, your pictures came underexposed because you metered for snow and for the white dog, so the camera wanted to make the dog and snow gray. you have to compensate for that. i think theres a section about that in every film cameras manual, even in the leicas manual

I've had the incredible luck to take pictures of my two favorite bands already: Blackout Problems 3x (alternative rock, super energetic shows, singer loves to run and climb all around the venue lol), and Enter Shikari once (alt-rock too, insane light-show and visuals, crazy pits), where I won a raffle for a photo-pass last year, and I hope I'll get to shoot for both of them again. 🤞🏻 My utopic daydream is to photograph BTS or another big (=many members) K-Pop group someday, because they usually have shows with big productions, lots of dancers and choreography, many different outfits, detailed stage sets/props, the fans often have lightsticks that interact with the music.... so it provides a lot of interesting and stunning visuals.

I just brought the Q3 43 and am loving it. I had the Q2 but didn’t like the 28mm focal length. Too wide for me. The 43 is more of my vibe. I love that it requires minimal editing afterwards. Did you edit these photos much?

I appreciate your comment about hearing all of the shutters in rapid fire and you taking one shot per wave. In my university years in the 90s I found myself in the unique position to work with our yearbook and was given a press pass to any sporting event. I would go to all of the home games and learned how to predict the plays and in some cases out maneuvered the professional press photogs. I was amazed how these photogs would shoot an entire roll of film on one play and I was taking one well aimed shot with a lens on manual focus (because my kit lens wasn't fast enough). I learned so much from that experience. I eventually picked up a Mamiya c330 and did portrait work for a few years before my regular career became too much to balance. I always did admire the Mamiya 7ii on the BHPhoto website. :)

The main reason to invest in a digital Leica M is that one can learn to use it within an hour; whereas say high-end Nikons and Cannons are so over saturated with features to the point where they take many months to learn to use. Secondly, Leica Ms are considerably smaller and lighter than say a Nikon Z8, as are the lenses thus allowing one to be discrete.

M11 is more work for nothing basically. Range finder cameras are dated for a reason. You need to constantly manual focus your shots for no extra benefits than stroking your own ego
@narutoflash10nhjigy72 ай бұрын
Nothing wrong with full control. I've had photos taken on my Fuji (which I love) that focused on the wrong thing. Had I used full manual I would have been fine. It's just a preference nothing more. Also very useful to know how to zone focus and whatnot especially when shooting something like film.
@ambition29592 ай бұрын
@@narutoflash10nhjigy7 Fuji isn’t reliable for focus at all. The q3 is decent enough but also has manual focus if you prefer so it’s just limitations on the m11 for no good reason
@narutoflash10nhjigy72 ай бұрын
@@ambition2959 well the point of the M is to be fully manual. People buy it for that reason. It's more niche in that regard and it's ok. Not every device has to be made for everyone. I think a lot of people just enjoy that manual process. Maybe for a similar reason why people like to shoot film as well.
@ambition29592 ай бұрын
@@narutoflash10nhjigy7 well from what I see in forums a lot of M users have a huge ego and saying “it’s not real photography if you rely on a camera to do all the work you need to get hands on blah blah blah”. If you wanted a range finder camera there’s cheaper options, but they go for the most expensive then brag about how they’re skilled photographers because they can find focus without the camera helping, hence why I said there’s no real benefit other than stroking peoples egos, and Leica knows that. Why do you think it’s more expensive but gives way less features compared to a Q?
@narutoflash10nhjigy72 ай бұрын
@@ambition2959 Those guys are just wack honestly and don't serve the hobby. Don't forget a lot of people online are just in their own echo chamber. At least everyone I've met with leicas have been very kind and didn't really care what camera I was using. Personally I've been using a Canon P to get that experience and was significantly cheaper. I do believe Leicas are more expensive because of how they're made and how many they make as well as brand cost of course. Again I think it just depends on your perspective. If I find myself not ever using auto focus then I'd go for an M11 for the added benefit of swapping lenses as well. That's my thought process at least.

I believe Fujifilm made the Hasselblad Xpan camera and lens. And the camera is not exactly as robust as say a Leica camera.

I used to think that pano format like Xpan is gimmickish. Eventually I realised it's not absolutely true. Using a normal wide angle lens (like 28mm and shorter) increases your field of view both vertically and horizontally, which increases the risk of putting more unwanted elements in your framing. So, you need frame carefully. On the other side, pano format is only wider horizontally, so your composition is cleaner. I'd say xpan is a like a scalpel. Limited, but very sharp.
