Is it bias or do the streets look a lot more cooler back in the day? Now it's just boring and generic. Really well made video, thanks!

It took me a moment to remember that Shotgun Red was from TNN (The Nashville Network)! My grandparents, who hailed from Kansas before moving to California, were big country music fans, so TNN was on quite often at their house. I want to say that's Monty Montana with Red; he was a fixture at the Pasadena Tournament of Roses for years. Speaking of: That was always the unofficial 'end' to the holidays, watching Bob Eubanks and Stephanie Edwards on KTLA Channel 5 on New Year's Day. Macy's Parade was the beginning and the Rose Parade was the end. Gosh, what a beautiful time that was. I was born in '73 so the 80s were halcyon days for me. I may have OD'd on your videos and gotten a little down but the memories are more sweet than bitter. <3

You Can't Do That On Television! Such an awesome show. Spent many an afternoon with Moose and Lisa and Alistair. Old Nickelodeon (and I remember when it didn't have commercials!) was the best. I became a Gerry Anderson fan as an adult so the Terrahawks episode gives me a giggle. And is Christmas horror a thing? I guess it is! I think a big part of the holidays were the commercials. Brands took a lot of care with their holiday offerings; I'm not sure that happens anymore, since we've gone away from 'the big three' networks.

Ah man, the He-Man and She-Ra Christmas Special. I have my own copy now, but back then I was a big fan and could NOT believe that they'd chosen to make a Christmas special. Then (IIRC) they had the He-Man and She-Ra float at the Macy's Parade. I got the Crystal Castle either in 1984 or 1985 for Christmas. What a great time to be a kid.

I was 11. My mom and 2 of her friends who had daughters in my class wanted to get us Cabbage Patch Dolls. Everywhere was sold out in our (then) little town, but someone tipped them off to order them from a Sears Catalog Store in a little village full of retirees near us. Each store got a set number and when they were gone, they were gone. The only catch was they didn't come in the fancy display boxes. However, it was cool because us girls were stumped, only to open these oblong boxes and discover the ultimate prize inside!

Yup just turned 48 in sep, so hits home. Back then grandparents and father still here , no one was divorced. The back end of the year was my favorite- it started with halloween and the plastic costumes with the razor inspired masks then turkey day when you'd make the paper turkey at school with the construction paper after tracing tour hand. Then xmas with every movement in the sky was"santa" and the gen with best toys Star Wars , gi joe, atari etc. and most of all we all played outside and socialized

I remember my teacher having a yeam trivia game, and asking what NASA stood for. Keep in mind, there were plenty of "bad" jokes going around about the Challenger at that point. Some kid shot his hand up and said, "Need Another Seven Astronauts!" The game pretty well ended at that point.

I was only 2 and had a little baby brother, but this is nostalgic for sure. 227 is the first TV show I have memories of watching. It was nice seeing a clip from that show. The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus has always been my favorite Rankin-Bass special (yes, including above Rudolph). I also thought Santa Claus the Movie was showing the real workshop when I was little. The beginning of that movie, showing how Santa came to be, I absolutely love.

OK guys need help with the name of a particular toy and I’m just going to give a fake description of it so maybe you guys can remember The toy was a spaceship or future horrific earth ship or spaceship that you could buy with a gun handle underneath it and I think it came with an external sensor to plug into the television set while you were watching a video that came along with it and you could shoot toward the screen at the sensor and it would replicate hitting targets on your television screen What was the name of this toy and what show or cartoon was it promoting? The gun handle trigger was attached to the bottom of the ship, and I believe if you got hit your ship would react by ejecting the figure inside the ship or something like that

I was 9 in 1985. I remember being so excited for Christmas specials. Nothing at the time was on demand, and the waiting and anticipation for the special to air was really something special. You would catch a commercial for something like Rudolph, and the ad would tell you something like, “Watch Rudolph Friday night at 7pm!!!” And kids would plan there night around it all waiting for the 7pm showtime!

I am glad we have on demand TV these days. I was always disappointed when I missed something
