@ I looked further into this and found a channel called “Primal Rights” who gave a good demonstration on this. Man, I think the tunneling issue is something I personally could not live with. May end up getting a 3-12x50 PMII or a Nightforce 4-16x42 ATACR. Havent looked through a 3-12 but the 4-16 ATACR is beautiful to look through for a more compact scope.
@johnsimonelli9988Ай бұрын
@@Asul5181 I understand, The main function of this scope for me is 500 to 1500 yards and generally speaking it lives at about 12 power. Therefore its not an issue for me. Also I purchased this scope in early 2020 when pricing was still reasonable. I paid about $2600 for the scope.

Skills like these are incredibly valuable and important, but we're quickly losing our connection to nature and the skills that it would take to ACTUALLY survive out there. MOST of Us, nowadays, only know how to hunt for our phones and go through Google to get the things that we need... In order to learn how to hunt, we'll hunt for the most informative videos on KZbin. I learned about precision actions and I love tinkering with guns. So I bought a Defiance Anti Long action, Proof carbon barrel, TriggerTech Special, Hawkins Oberndorf bottom metal, Wyatt extended box kit and a Mesa Altitude Carbon stock. I assembled it all in a half hour. Weight is 6-10. If you look up the companies that make prefit barrels and look at the actions they build for that tells you who’s actions have tight enough tolerances to work with. Barrel vice, torque wrench, action wrench and headspace gages is all you need to do this. No gunsmith ever. It’s a great sense of satisfaction knowing I researched, shopped, and assembled this guy all on my own. Kind of like the dopamine kick you get when you roll your own ammo but a better high! 🤓🥸 Just decide first what you’re doing with your gun, hunting or ELR? Very different components Mine was for hunting so the 22 ounce Defiance Anti, the 3lb carbon barrel and the 26 ounce stock.

I own builds from PSA and Aeroprecision. One day at the range a guy let me shoot his DD much like yours after I helped him zero his red dot. I liked the DD firing impulse, it was smoother than my rifles but you’re right about the triggers. My budget builds range from enhanced polished triggers to Giessle 2 stage sets so they are easier to fire, they help make the shooter more accurate but not the gun. The combination of your DD and your Geissle trigger must make a great combo.

Put a Sig MSR red dot and Juliet x3 magnifier on mine. I also have Magpul flip up iron sights. Swapped the handguard for the one that has slits down the entire length so that helps with venting a bit. Surefire 500 Lumen mini tactical light and a Magpul sling and forend pistol grip plus lots and lots of their pmags. I have a few of criticisms (most are minor) with the DDV4M7: 1. Trigger is inexplicably awful. For $2K, I don't expect to spend an additional $200 and do armorer work out of the box. 2. Grip is too thin, no backstrap. And a finger groove? Just NO. Easy fix with a Magpul MOE+... oh I guess I have to get a new trigger guard too because the DD is attached to the grip. Not the worst idea in the world, I suppose... unless you don't like the grip. 3. Stock is just weird...difficult to adjust, sorry I know it's a personal thing. Don't like changes and all that - easy fix anyway. (same as the the grip) 4. QD slots on the handguard do not accept QD! For some reason, you have to move that mount platform if you change the attachment point. All in all, the important things are great: the barrel, handguard, BCG, ambi features, muzzle device are all awesome and built to last.
@johnsimonelli9988 Жыл бұрын
Trigger was a disappointment for sure that's why I changed it, I paid $1570 for mine, You can catch them on sale at eurooptics when they have them, Grips and the stock are definitely a personal choice matter and I don't have a lot of experience with the AR platform and I do appreciate your insights and all the comments on this matter.

Thanks for taking the time to make this video, I’ve been looking at the model which Sig call the M400 Tread as opposed to the Sig M 400 SDI, the main difference seems to be the barrel and the hand guard which you already upgraded. Can you tell me the type of stainless Sig used? And how they rifled it? As opposed to the barrel on the SDI, which I believe is 4150 cold forged, and your opinion of each? When I purchased mine in 2017 I had it in mind to use it for hunting and long range bolt action rifles. I liked the fact that you can run the anchor brake or not. Also I can run the 30 cal flat end cap or the .223 end cap or anchor brake. As far as suppression goes I find atmospheric conditions, barrel length and caliber play a big roll in sound suppression. I hope that helps.
@Whitesp44 Жыл бұрын
It's a great rifle. You will get better accuracy with it for sure! I wish I loaded my own, that's they way to go. I think it's crazy, at that price point, the trigger is a run of the mill below average mil spec trigger. The rest of the rifle is nice, doesn't make sense to me. I bought the DD MK12 with a Geissele SSA 2-Stage Trigger factory installed but I paid for it! It's the only rifle I didn't build and its a shooter. Sub MOA all day. Thank you sir for sharing, stay safe. Like to see an update after you've put 1K down the pipe.

Thanks for sharing, Shooting cheap ammo for fun is still relatively inexpensive and not worth loading, but the high end ammo at $1.20 to $2.00 a round is insane. I can handload 69 gr Sierra match king ammo for about 85 cents a round. The new trigger definitely helped a lot, not so sure I would do a two stage again. I guess I'm just an old dog set in his ways. I will give an uodate after 1000 rounds. Good luck with your setup!!

I must have gotten a heck of a rifle, or maybe the optic helped a little, but I sighted mine in at 100 yards with 55 grain and the mean was .7 in. Hoping with some more practice to get it down to about .5 or so. Love the rifle so far, and good shooting on the boat tails.

@Joe Friday best 1-10x lpvo on the market. Eyebox at 10x is much better than razor 1-10x. Glass is as clear as atacr 1-8x. Weight is same as razor. I run a badger ordnance c1 in 1.7 height. My application is quantified performance matches and the 1.7 high is perfect for maintaining consistent cheek weld and heads up in all shooting positions.
