SAL seemed to take more pride in maintaining the clean appearance of their locomotives than ACL did.

10:41 Budd Breslin operating #120 with his buddy Grecco behind him, Gary Pfeiffer (RIP) walking out with the car, you can just make out Charlie Long in his grease-covered jumpsuit along with Don Colangelo manning the trolley rope. Lots of hard work by more than few people made this happen.

There must be several short movies compiled on this video. As the progression of time of seasons and later vintage machines are shown. The 55 combine was a real early one as it has the hand powered long lever for the ground speed control, later versions had a hydraulic control with a short lever, I had both versions of them, they were very good machines for the time. Also notice the corn, the stalks are about 15 inches between them in the row, maybe 12000 plants per acre population? Today it's common to have 30000 ppa, but we use a good bit of fertilizer. Also what are they loading into the spreader? Almost looks like loose dirt? Not like any manure I've ever loaded! Also trying to figure out why the people at the farm demonstration are doing walking through the tall grass? A real interesting study.

Are you sure this is from 1958? The Norfolk and Western Coaches and the N&W coal hoppers seems to suggest this was post the N&W buyout in 1959.

I liked the one showing the Sharon Hill and Media line trolleys back to back approaching Lansdowne Ave. I never minded whether I caught a 101 or a 102 because I could walk home from either just as quick.
@davidconnell19592 ай бұрын
I liked that you included the winter films, but it also made me sad - two of my classmates were killed by sledding downhill into a trolley crossing (two separate instances) My grandfather collected fares when the passengers boarded in the middle of the car and the conductor and driver were two different people. And I was a trolley crossing guard on the Media line (School Road / Garrett Road) in my own time. Loved old No. 81 & No. 73 especially. Beautiful trolleys.

OMG... Thanks so much for posting these memories. Wow...Train 17 in the morning! Locomotive 3030 was a regular visitor to Littleton, NC, back then. One evening, many moons ago, we "raced" (paced) it and Train 18 along curvy Highway 158 West after it had pulled out of Littleton, Mars light and all. We had to let it go a mile and a half out of town. The highway speed limit, back in those days, was 60. 18 was already exceeding that and still accelerating.

Crazy to see those tractors. They were old back then. I have both a 1936 A and B John Deere and they are ancient now. Still use them for field work. Just bought a Deere disk tiller like the one behind the D in this video. Pretty cool to see them working.

Not sure. It says John Deere on it and it is about 8 ft wide with steel wheels and 9 disks, I think.

After Penn's Landing closed in 1995, what happened to 26 and the other streetcars? Do they still exist today in 2024, and if yes, they do, where are they now?
Fun video to watch those old trains, but could you at least turn down the projector sound? It detracts from the content of what you are presenting. Thanks anyways.

Great films and memories. I was born in 1953, so the 60s were my memories ( on the Phila main line: Ardmore to Coatesville mainly) I didn't see much steam, but I saw "Paoli locals" commuter cars ( no Air Conditioning), before Budd cars, and lots of GG-1s.
