It’s a very valid issue. The people who do this shouldn’t be allowed to abuse the system. However, judging by the comments here and comments in similar vlog in the internet. A rising unreasonable anti-immigrant is taking shape. Especially anti-Indian or to be more correct, anti-South Asian sentiment. Just read the comments. Instead of the issue being a specific anti abuse of the asylum program, it’s becoming a general anti-Indian sentiment. And the language are becoming downright racist. We should be more circumspect in this. Are we fanning the flames and becoming, without intentionally doing it, anti immigrants ourselves? No matter how much we applaud manong guard for doing his job, it is the Canadian law that set these as misdemeanours. Yung iba ang threshold is around 1k bago makasuhan. But theft is part of the insurance the store pays. Loss due to theft can be paid by the insurance. The cost is lower compared to lawsuits, inconvenience on the store. Kung namatay pa si manong guard magbabayad din ang store. Sadly, this is law here. 😢 And it's not worth risking your life over this.
