Hah, was reading the instructions to make NANO feed, trying to see if Jim meant that you could substitute the surfactant with this sprayer. Can't say I'm too surprised I ended up on your channel, but thanks as always for the videos! Excited to try it this year, although I'll be doing it the old-fashioned way with my pump sprayer.

No BT.. I am continually amazed at how people will describe what the product does to the insect but then think somehow they are immune to the effect. It is a horrible thing to introduce to the gut microbiome of any organism.....

Thanks for the great tips on growing tomatoes. I used your tying method successfully. Can you please give me tips on growing winter squash vertically? The vines always slip down on the twine and bend the main stem once a squash gets large . I have lost all of my squash the past two seasons.

Why do you disregard the seed packet instructions for the sowing depth? Is it because you are growing in clay soil?

Thanks for posting all this. Texas Ready - who I really trust - highly recommends this method, but there are a lot of naysayers online who seem to be jealous anyone can out perform their meticulous gardens with the system! Nice to see some tips on how to use the system. Love the self watering setup.

thanks for the video. I was looking for just this. Im growing for my rabbits and guinea pigs and wanted to know if i could harvest and feed them the outside leaves and the cabbage would still grow. Does this work with cauliflower and broccoli too? Im growing them to feed too.

No vegetables - wont harm you, but there are blooms - will kills bees and any beneficial insect. No reason to kill flea beetles - except when plants are very young, and only then if plant is threatened. The flea beetles will not harm the fruit.

Tried this and still leads to haphazard seed spread. Found is just better to use a toothpick dipped in water and then dipped in a small pile of the seeds.

Does the sediment from the fertilizer that didn’t dissolve cause any issues with the sprayer? I think I heard you say you shook the concentrate before using it, so the particles would be re-suspended instead of at the bottom.

I am also in Missouri. 2 quick questions: how are you able to deal with harlequin bugs and do you spray anything for blight on tomatoes/cumbers/beans? By the way it's been refreshing seeing your tiller in the background! I've grown weary of "no dig" dogma. 😊

Interesting. Wonder how much cold they can handle for how long? I had some in my freezer for 4 days at 0F to expire them. Pulled them out to let them thaw out for drying. That didn't work very well. They thawed after a while and took off crawling again.

I'm trying to do the math but it's a bit convoluted so please help me here. Say you've got a 20wk growing season so using the weekly feed you're using something like 12#/wk x 20wks = 240# of weekly feed for the entire garden, close? But with the electrostatic you're using 8oz of the weekly feed to make 25gal and each gallon is feeding the entire garden for a couple of weeks or more? So 8oz is doing 2-3x the 'work' of 240# of normal weekly feeding? Or am I totally missing it and the 8oz is just the Mittleider micronutrients and the bulk 15-15-15 or whatever is still being applied normally?
@smallblockfuelie Жыл бұрын
You’re close. I stop feeding 8 weeks before a frost that would kill crops like tomatoes. For a single harvest crop like cabbage I stop 3 weeks before harvest. Regardless, foliar spray and electrostatic sprayers can potentially significantly reduce the amount of fertilizers needed. The man who I learned about this from is still experimenting too. He recently recommended using 6 ounces instead of 5. I suspect we will see more slight tweaking in the future. Regardless it’s exciting
@kaveman9 Жыл бұрын
@@smallblockfuelie Thanks for the reply and certainly follow up with a vid of your mixing schedule. Yes, I'd say a several hundred fold increase in fertilizer efficiency would be a game changer! I've got what I figure as twenty yrs worth of fertilizer and feed stockpiled but I'd love to think I have enough for 4000yrs(or enough to provide fertilizer to a few hundred friends!). Look at the Ryobi handheld electrostatic sprayers. They only hold one liter onboard but that may be an advantage. I bought several complete sprayers locally for 7 dollars apiece and just three more online for under twenty apiece, already have scads of Ryobi batteries and chargers. I predict fertilizer shortfalls for yrs to come. This could save us small timers. Factory farmers want to apply fertilizer once or perhaps twice per season so they're not going to be interested in anything that requires 3x/wk application.
@T4nkcommander20 күн бұрын
@@smallblockfuelie Latest instructions I can find from Jim say 8 ounces of weekly feed now, and spray every 3-7 days. Those are from two years ago tho, so....
