FINALLY a gardening video where the soil looks like mine! Wish I found this a couple days sooner, but I have lots of direct sowing left! The seeds I did sow, I covered with seed starting mix, not sand, but I was thinking along those same lines. Now to get some burlap or shelf liners! I’m going to throw a party if I get anything to germinate. 🥳😉🤞🏼Thank you so much for this video!

You’re quite welcome. The starting mix should work well if you can keep it from blowing away.

We’re all in containers for now, but when we move to our farm, we’ll do a lot in the ground and we have serious clay down there. Thanks for the tips!

I look forward to seeing your garden once you are able to transition away from the containers.

Great advice and visual! Thanks for all your insight and advice this past week during boot camp, we really enjoyed it. Especially the tour of your greenhouse! We will be getting started on our roll down sides this week!

Question.. dont clay and sand end up as a concrete mix ... is another mulching material maybe better. My clay based soil is a real problem for germination issues.

Great question. I’ve been using sand with my clay soil for 7 years. Not an issue.

A shelf liner! How brilliant! Where did you learn that from?

Why do you disregard the seed packet instructions for the sowing depth? Is it because you are growing in clay soil?
