Hello and welcome
This car has been off the road and dry stored since 2001, I have known it since a good friend restored it in the late 1980s.
My task, as accepted, is to get it running and MoT'd
What can go wrong
loads of fun
Enjoy

Great video 👍🏻. Nice to see a MGB. I've got one with the V8 in it... which is why I came across your channel when looking for info on the RV8. Thanks for the video's 👍🏻 This MG is definitely going to turn into an adventure.

Looks to be a sleeper. Loved my B GT. Ex factory test car with old chrome fittings plus test USA spec and stage 1 tune. H reg when I got it with 300 on the clock. Sadly sold not long ago due to low entry for me. Old dinosaur regrets it now. Hope to see this one burst into life. Thank you for posting.

This is the second "B" that I worked on, the first wasn't videoed. I rather like them. Not the sort of car that you get out of in a hurry though

Yes! A MGB! You will sone be changing your Triumph out!😂 Check the lower buches in the front, the bolt should be going in the center! Mine was not! Looking forward too this series!

I'm looking forward to seeing you bring this lovely MG back to life and hoping I pick up some knowledge too. I'm currently very slowly restoring a '79 GT for my daughter and its a lot more work than I thought. Many new panels and plenty of welding for me to tackle. Oh and the coil was upside down in mine too. 🤷

That'll be fun to see. It'll be like working on a toy car for you after all the range rovers and Landys.

The body condition is not bad the wiring as usual will have rotten bits in it and bad earths everywhere amazing how any light alloy just dissolves away after a few years this should be an easier go Richard can't wait for next episode.

Perhaps BMC fitted the coil upside down in the hope that the sparks would come out more easily?! 😉

As an EX MGB owner (sob sob) the tool to fix the fuel pump is a hammer, the pump is located underneath near the right rear wheel, give it a whack and it will burst into life. Really looking forward to the videos on this car. The MG Owners club do a 12v Conversion kit C'Mon der wasser pupen is fickened Coil position is correct Engine mounts shot I think the wiring harness is original but taped up, Especially as it has a old looking Voltage regulator plug, That wiring harness needs to be replaced or there WILL be a fire

You sure asked a lot of questions in that one! 1. The “ is it a hole in the bulkhead” by the pedal box- looked like one of the securing holes for the cover, should be a captive nut under it. 2. Yes for some reason they fitted the coils upside down 3. Yes it is a 12v system, many people covert to a single 12v battery- I have. Leaves room for an isolator and the fuel pump and a filter in the other battery box, much better than underneath. 4. Sorry if I missed it but did you ever turn it by hand- is the engine free? Starter sounded “flat battery” so suspect you still have a connection problem and not a stuck starter- you were earthing to pedal box, is the engine to chassis earth any good? It goes across one of the engine mounts. 5. Strongly suggest remove the heater valve, it will be clogged up inside like the water pump was. I rebuilt my 73 MGB GT from a completely bare shell so I know every wire, nut and bolt. Feel free to fire questions and can supply pics if needed on anything. Finally, I found MGB Hive to be a better source of good parts and quicker delivery- better than the Lincoln guys! Good luck

Thank you for the info, the hole is a rust hole and you'll have to wait for ep2 to find out if the engine turns...

I think someone* mislaid the keys to the cheap krooklok that I found and needed to move the car. shame as the steering wheel will cost more to replace than the steering lock
