Before 'Star Wars' (1977), there was John Carpenter's 'Dark Star' (1974), which was both a reaction to the too-clean look of '2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) as well as being considered to be the prototype for 'Alien' (1979), arguably helped to pioneer the grungy realistic look of later sci-fi films, like Star Wars. However, earlier B movies with rickety sets and "special" effects, which definitely caters to the imperfectly made by humans on a budget look, still remains highly popular even today. For instance, 'Plan 9 from Outer Space' (1959) is hailed as a classic of truly awesome levels of badness and imperfections galore.

As someone who used to teach classes to elderly people on basic computer usage, I can confirm that the mouse is not as intuitive as people think. Questions like "What do I do when I run out of space on the mouse pad?" make you realise that you've forgotten what it was like to learn it in the first place.

Microsoft windows loading animation is of COURSE NOT a true type font shit, windows DOESN'T have this font, it's created as a joke by someone. Instead, windows animation is a simple group of rastr images, it loads before any vector graphic or XAML engine, required to draw ttf on windows Same looking element exist in WPF and UWP, but has vector nature there, again not a ttf. Even if u compare video frames with actual screen recording u will see that this font just mimics the original rastr/vector animations People pls stop being stupid 😢

KZbin volume controls aren't programmed by youtube, they're a browser feature, it's part of the video HTML component Also motion blur has its caveats, as you can tell from the video, the motion blurred ball looks less white.

There is another catch to the phone volume control, a phone generally only has a 5V supply line, and that is near nothing audio amp wise, so as you wind up the volume the phone processes the absolute crap out of the signal so it appears louder, without exceeding the limits imposed by 5V on the amp.

I wouldnt say that any of these tech products you showed to us inherently LIED to us, more of people just don't understand how they work. Assumptions that are wrong does not mean that the tech lied to you about what it is doing. Also, at 1:51, the LEDs on the Joycons are not battery level, they are your player number. LEDs on Nintendo controllers have always been your player number, that is why they animate when they are connecting - they show connection status, not battery level.

Other than the fact its NOT a mirror. Its a light tube/pipe. Its literally just a piece of plastic bent at 90% to transfer light. Pretty much all LED status lights use these now as it diffuses the LED light, and you can place the LED further into the device and just transfer the light through the plastic like a fiber optic. This guy doesnt know what hes talking about.

I understand the concept of imperfections and I love them especially in memes. BUT I still do hate spelling errors. In my native language (and in others if I'm proficient enough) spelling errors pop out at me.

I like your content but your color-separation filter that makes so much of your b-roll look psychedelic is really distracting and disturbing to look at. I'm sure not everyone experiences this effect, but it really makes your content visually unwatchable for anyone else who does.

Don't like this format. I'd rather watch a deep dive on a single topic than a rapid fire surface level overviews of like 10 different ones that are only vaguely related to one another.

These videos take me back to when I would read this one national geographic magazine issue that sat on the coffee table in my parent's office, it was a big long list of how different science and tech developments work. Lots of little nuggets of ingenuity. Thanks for making them, learning these little things about design is a nice little light in my day 🫶
