68 years old been riding since I was 10 years old, got more than enough plates and screws in me from playing rugby,stock car racing and throwing myself at the scenery at high speed from motorbikes. I use my bikes instead of car and i have no intention of stopping.

I'm 58. I had the mildest of mild heart attack some 12 years ago. Luckily, I was fit as a flea and it was put down to a birth defect. I only take an aspirin every day and still service and repair my bikes. I have a Street Twin now leaving the sports bikes and speed triples behind. I won't stop until I can't do it anymore. Even then I think I will build/restore bikes - slowly! I never stopped riding. Passed my test at 17. GPz1100B1 at 19 and never stopped. Good on ya Ian. May I recommend getting Sue through her test? My lady is learning at 54. Suddenly, she wants to extend the workshop and doesn't blink an eye when I spend on the bike or my tool kit!!! Heaven!!!!

I used to ride trikes in the UK. My last one was a Harley 1340 EVO that won quite a few shows. The way they drive in Bulgaria I will stick to 4 wheels or ride pillion on the Bullet or Interceptor with Ian.

I just came across you’re channel and looking forward too catching up on your vids. My last bike was a Dr650 but after having a get off twice in the past four years I got rid of my bike while my injuries heals. I’m 73 and I’ll be getting a Himi 411 in the next few months and hit the back tracks once again. Al👍🏽🍺

Great video once again thanks Ian. I'm 64 and have been a life long motorcyclist. I'm fortunate enough to own quite a few bikes including a few Harleys, Enfields, BMWs and so on. Eight of these are currently registered for road use. About 12 months ago I bought a PCX150 Honda scooter. I wasn't looking for a scooter at the time, but this one popped up at a price I just couldn't let pass, so I bought it. My plan was to resell it after attending to a few very minor issues. Anyway, long story short, I fell in love with the thing and use it pretty much everyday to do my running around. They are just so convenient. The twist and go throttle, low C of G, great luggage carrying capacity, ease of mounting and dismounting and so on. Whilst I was never going to keep this one, doing so has given me a good insight into scootering as a viable option down the track as I age. Okay, I'd probably go for a larger capacity one, 350 or 400cc perhaps, but there is no denying that a scooter could definitely prolong your riding life. If it becomes my only option in the future, I won't hesitate.

I'm like minded Ian. I'm 58 now and as you know own a 2018 Triumph bobber and 2021 Himmy and I'll never stop. There's absolutely no better mental therapy than going for a ride and destressing your mind. I'm constantly scraping my pegs in corners. Just love the thrill. Even on the Himmy in the tight ones. If I get weak and tired and struggle moving my bikes around, I'll just go smaller. By the time I'm 80 there'll be a lightweight high torque electric moto available that will still give me a smile that I can't hold back. 😁

I was 70 when I regained my license, now 4 years ago. I also have a Himalayan. Planning a around Australia trip starting April 10 next year, will be 75 then. Seen too many of the old sitting around doing nothing for years, then next, they are gone. No, not me.

I bought my Bullet off a guy who was turning 80 and was very reluctant to sell but had to, because his leg was crook and they were taking his licence. Go down fighting!

Wow it looks like estate agents world is a mine field it is lovely to come across such an honest man like you saying valuable things that no one talks about openly, got a friend who got scammed by a recommended estate agent online ,he agreed to pay a 7000 euros for the property he signed the deed in October without lawyer as the agent said to him you don t need one the notary will check everything , thinking the agent is a trustworthy ended up paying 7000 leva and the rest of the money taken by the agent and kept delaying the copy of the deed translated into English till the 10 days elapsed where he lost the right to claim his money back or any other problem arise. still he does not know what to do as he is in England ,he would be grateful if you have any advice for him as I would like to help him too. Thank you much for the efforts and time to make such a great video.
@iantoy7778Күн бұрын
Unless your friend had a signed agreement with the agent for services he would provide to assist with the sale I doubt your friend will be able to do anything. Unfortunately this can and does happen in Bulgaria. He could try contacting a lawyer but needs to be careful of costs involved. Might be worth contacting the British Embassy in Sofia for advice.
@travellingarts937 сағат бұрын
@@iantoy7778 Thank you so much for your reply ,the funny thing is the agent is an English lady you would not expect your fellow countrywoman doing such a thing ,I think it would be interesting to see what the British Embassy could do since she is known to them, I will try to pass on the info to my friend and keep you posted if we could at least warn and help others. many thanks

The obvious difference here is you aren't sharing the roads in the UK with 30 million cars a good percentage of which want to kill you on a regular basis !! 😮
@iantoy7778Күн бұрын
Admittedly on this type of road in the mountains cars are few and far between. The major routes are different though. We don't have the number of cars as the UK but whereas you have many dual carriageways most of our main routes are single carriageway. There are plenty of idiots in fast mercs, BMW and Audis trying their best to kill you and themselves.

I'm 70 and probably going to buy myself a new bike again for my next birthday. The Himalayan is No1 on the list presently (whether it will be the 450 or a pre registered 411 still available at crazy price of £3,800). I've driven 19 countries in Europe for work and wouldn't think twice about doing them again for pleasure on a bike. Stuff the Saga holidays or going on a brain numbing cruise with loads of old people, it's not for me.

Excellent video and very relevant topic as well as the incredible scenery. I'm 67 and been riding since I was 16. Been through around 60 bikes and only been off the road to deal with 3 rounds of the big "C". You mentioned the importance of picking the right bike. That is so true. I have a Meteor and a Hunter now, and recently acquired a Honda Grom. I find I use the Grom 80% of the time. In the right environment it's brilliant. Never ridden a scooter but wouldn't rule one out. Hope I didn't get you in trouble mentioning on you canyon video you were a bit remote.

When to stop riding? Something I often think about for myself these days. Until quite recently I worked in a Royal Enfield main dealers in England and we had a few regular customers in their mid 80s. They seemed very fit and healthy and mentally very sharp. I'm sure that continuation of biking was a big contributor to their general health. I hope I can continue for many more years.

You wont need to switch off or remove the module for a UK MOT as there is no emissions testing on motorbikes. As previously said, removing the AIS is also very beneficial to engine efficiency and smooth running. Thanks for sharing

Ian, you are right about many things but please never say that in comunist times it wasn't so bad. What you did all your life it would have been impossible for 95% of people who lived under comunist regimes. You could not own a bussines, i could not travel with personal vehicle for leisure (we had a 20 liters of gasoline monthly quota ), you could not travel abroad, you could not buy and sell property... And those were things only on personal level: the way society was corupted it was another can of worms.If you realy want to know, we will meet and i'll tell you from my direct experience.

What part of Bulgaria are you in? If you would like to send me an email maybe we could arrange a meet. I'm sure many of my subscribers would be very interested in hearing the Bulgarians point of view. [email protected]

I'm still not convinced that the "Lard" is the cause of any running issues as I believe it is simply dielectric grease which helps to repel water and prevent terminal corrosion. I cleaned one of my Inties and replaced with Bosch relays, whilst the other I left a standard and I haven't had any bother with either of them

Nice less expensive alternative option to the YKK kit, albeit without any pre-load adjustment or damping upgrade. I guess if you were to simply add some pre-load adjusters (if required for pillion etc) and drop in some generic damping valves you would get a similar result, but again you would probably have to drill out the damping rods. If I didn't already have the YSS kit I would give this a try. Thanks for sharing, and with a very simplistic, understandable delivery.
@chrismurphy4724Күн бұрын
We all know and love to hate Uncle Stu for his arrogance....... as for the YSS fork kit - the original destructions did in fact state you had to drill out the damper rods, but this element was withdrawn for some reason, possibly because they were not longer plug n play for the DIYer ?? James Slick England has done many a Utube video on this and is well worth a watch .. thanks for your video

Reminds me of Triumphs of old. Good idea. Out in fresh air plus good heat conducting plate. Will check mine for 'crud' when the UK is above 1°C in the workshop !!!!! The stiff outer loom covering can be softened for repositioning easily with a hot air gun. Saves cracking the outers.

In 2019 I saw a property on eBay on pay monthly. stupid and naive. Paid the deposit and a couple of months payments. The house was “move in condition “. I flew over, hired a car and went to a village near gorsko Kosovo and the dam. Although I’d pod to have garden cleared I arrived to a jungle with a house which had holes in the ceilings, no electricity although I was assured it would be sorted and was no where near move in condition. A kind English lady from the village and a local lady helped translate and even found me a nights accommodation. I handed the keys back, blew my budget on hotels and had a lovely holiday instead. The isolated village with one shop, one road was closed as it had literally collapsed into the valley. I will come back but will buy when in the country, your videos are an honest expose to help dreamers like myself that it’s not as easy as the house adverts and nothing should be taken for granted. Thank you
