Hi Carter...thanks for making this channel. I like many came to this channel as fans of Mike Tyson. Your channel gives a good glimpse of how he grew and trained to become the champion. In particular, I wanted to thank you for this video as well as the one regarding the twist. I am not training to get in the ring(a bit of an older guy). I have a bit of a balance issue and(correct me if I'm wrong) I think doing drills like the twist will help me in that aspect. I have many more questions regarding this boxing style and such but again...thank you.

This is one of the most beautiful and powerful interviews I've ever seen. The personal aspect of Main Moore's story is truly inspirational and has a far wider appeal than just boxing. I'm 65 and I grew up in London during the era of the big heavyweight fights of Ali, Fraser, Forman and our own UK legend Henry Cooper. My dad was a keen amateur boxer as a young boy, so I would often watch boxing matches on TV with him. As I grew up, I chose different martial arts, like Judo and Kung Fu. I remember the early fights of Mike Tyson and being amazed at his devastating speed, strength, power and determination against bigger and heavier opponents. Seeing this video reveals wonderful insights into how these guys all had to overcome tremendous obstacles and hardship to transform themselves, not only as boxers, but as people also. Understanding and embracing fear, developing self-confidence and training hard with determination are all part of that huge mental and emotional aspect that Cus D'Amato made a priority. Without that development, no amount of technique would ever go far. It was an absolute joy to hear Main Moore speak with so much love and appreciation for his trainers and fellow colleagues in the gym.

Your videos are great! I did watch your video about slipping punches but i'm confuse when you said bend at the waist side to side can you go more in depth about it and can you adjust the camera where we can see your feet in the videos as well? That way us viewer get a much clearer better view of your example demonstration please.

At 2:56 finally someone points that out about how that's barely slipping and you will get hit. I've seen a lot of videos and tutorial slip punches like that

@ I’m glad you replied to this 😂 yeah I was laughing pretty hard during the first half of this video. It’s like he couldn’t explain anything or move his feet without throwing a punch.. honestly it’s a great habits if you’re a fighter. I feel bad for whoever he’s talking to though, in this case it was you coach 😂 . for real though, all jokes aside. Great video! he made it seem easy to cut the ring down. I know it’s not, but I definitely got the concept from watching that. I’ve seen it before and I’m not new to it, but I do like how he explained it.. throw your punches, then let them go(because you’re letting them go where YOU want them to go). Give a break for yourself, then beat them to that spot. I like how it got tighter and tighter showing how to work someone into the corner. Thanks for the knowledge and insight always!

Tyson’s gifts were his speed and power. Through his dedication and focus he made the best of what he had. I think if Floyd Patterson had not used the Peek a boo style and had used a more defensive approach, he might have been more successful. The style does have its flaws.

I think you can do the peekaboo as a tall person but keep in mind that they’re going to hit you with body shots. Also if you’re tall you have to know how to use your jab when you have to. The peekaboo will help you hit with power no matter how tall or not.

I literally started watching Carter almost when he just stated this channel, now it's 17k, and you're getting recognition, i dream about this style being as famous and promoted as possible, and in the right way, not when some random guys try to teach you how to get like Mike Tython, the more i study peekaboo style, the more i love art of boxing, when it's not just power against power, but skilled man versus another skilled man, like you see in those movies, where it's 70% martial arts and 30% of the movie, Mike fought exactly like a boxer should be fighting, hit without getting hit, confuse the opponent, = Iq fighting. I noticed when I'm relaxed, even when I don't see the punch coming, i automatically like a robot slip outside the shoulder and successfully evade the punch

Me too man ever since the shift identity video. I've just been too shy to let him know that I'm following like he's my coach. Just today I realized that I can't be shy like that anymore. Because there was this moment today, where I was very timid, even though I knew there was more I could've done. But I was giving off those vibes where "it was alright for him to take the fight from me" Not going to do that to myself anymore.

@ Conviction my friend, conviction. The first thing I do when I walk in my gym before I start going through the moves is go up to my board. I erase the word conviction from the day before and rewrite it. I remind myself to train with that conviction. Keep that confidence and that mindset that I’m stepping in here with bad intentions and I will win. In the ring and in life. Even if you don’t have a board. Remind yourself of this all the time. Even when you wake up! Keep that confidence bro, it will always carry you through your roughest moments and you will come out a winner(even if you “lose” the fight) you still know that you didn’t back down and you gave it all you got. Don’t leave room for regret. Thanks for responding man, I think that’s dope that you noticed that about yourself and you made that mental change. That’s all it takes. You got this!!🥊🥊

Hello, I'm a subscriber to Korea who recently started watching your videos. I don't understand everything because I'm not good at English, but just watching and copying it helps a lot. Thank you. But I have a question. You may find it difficult to understand because I use a translator, but if you understand, please reply. I was taught to hit a left-handed punch in the gym, hit a weaving right punch to the left, and then weaving back to the right. But when I saw your video or Mike Tyson's video, I was curious to see him hit a left-handed hook, then hit a weaving right-handed hook to the right, and then weaving to the left. Why do you do that? Am I not wrong with how I learned as well?
@peekabooboxingacademy
@peekabooboxingacademy 5 күн бұрын
@@청포도-d7v Thank you for your support, great question. The reason you weave right after a left hook, and weave left after a right hook, is because if you’re in close and you hit someone with that hook, you are already smothering that side of their body. So usually, your opponent will throw their hook with the arm that is free. Hope that helps 🥊

Tyson was amazing to watch before he went to prison in 1992. Since then, not a single boxer has been able to reproduce the style. The HW division has been low in skill since Lennox Lewis retired. I question the efficiency of the peek-a-boo style. It's energy draining, not energy efficient. Was Tyson just fitted for the style? (Tyson couldn't keep up the true style after prison) Today, with so much information available to young boxers, why would one choose to train this style? Canello for example, short, able to be energy efficient, beat taller boxers all the time. Coach Tom Yankello, very good at coaching an energy efficient style utilizing micro movements and excellent defence. Is the peek-a-boo just marketable because of the 30+ year old videos ?
