Hi Patrick. I have two cherry tomato plants that are flowering and fruit seems to be setting. They came from our local cafe. They were so good in my salad that I asked for two and just planted them as an experiment - and they've grown! Totally wrong season but I'm fascinated to see what happens. I'm saving my egg shells and following your advice to avoid BER this year. Greetings from Crete!

Hi! Depending on what zone you are in, you CAN plant many things in December. If you have a greenhouse, for sure and if you have grow lights, you can grow year round.

This is a revelation! I'm going to do this with my pepper. It popped in a another plant's pot and I didn't know what it was. I potted it on and got one tiny pepper! It looks pretty bare but I'll follow your tips and if it has a decent root, I'll overwinter it. Hugs from Crete!

@@bienestarcounselingeducati1398 I will usually store them in my garage or my greenhouse. As long as there around 50°F it’s enough to keep them alive and warm for the winter. When the ground thaws in the spring, you just plant them into the ground.

How would you estimate how long the doubled rope needs to be? Count your Chiles, divide by 3 to determine the number of rows and allow 1/2” per row or 1/4”? Thx! Very informative & easy to follow!!

Can you give some actual instructions on how to do these things? You have no instruction on preparing the rope before you start the ristra, and zero instruction on the slip knot. You’re assuming your audience knows the basics on knots. They wouldn’t be here if they did.

I live in 7B VA with heavy clay. The lawn was mostly Creeping Charlie. I did a lot of weeding to NO avail. I decided to plant white clover in hopes of it taking over. The competition has been going on for 10 years at this point. I can’t declare clover the winner, but it definitely is holding its own. The bunnies adore the clover and so do the bees. The nitrogen fixing of the clover may help my veggies and pollinator flower beds. All of this is an attempt to keep herbicides and chemical fertilizers out of my yard. 🐞🐝🦋🐇

Thanks for vid! I planted onions from starters last year and they did awesome! But ima try seed this year since I collected some. Do I have to plant seeds in small containers? Or Can I just throw em n grow em in the raised bed they’re going in? Whatcha think?
@inthegardenwithpatrick62474 ай бұрын
You can plant the seeds directly into the soil, but the issue I always had here in El Paso with our heat, is keeping the soil moist for the time it takes to germinate anything. Even 1 day when I forget to water, everything dies. I have good success with starting most of my plants from seed. If you have the time, try to direct seed. You could even do a video (hint hint... 😁) and try both methods and see if there is a difference in your harvest! Thanks for watching and happy gardening!

I have been trying to find some real paprika. I have bought so many from the store and they all taste awful because it's not paprika. The store I used to get it went out of business. Even my grandson tried to tell me paprika doesn't matter because it has no taste and he doesn't believe me. I would love to get some real paprika. I would be interested in getting some of your seeds. @@inthegardenwithpatrick6247 it has come in amazingly. I have a clay and granite rock soil that I’ve conditioned and unstoned a lot and put dirt and soil in. The clover is super thick due to my overseeding and has even started to spread a bit outside of my planting area but that’s perfectly fine for me. I only did that patch as it was a lot of work for what I had made good ground already lol.
@biggrizzz68335 ай бұрын
The area is about 5 foot wide and 20ish feet long. Took out probably 1500-2000 pounds in rocks only about fist size or smaller. The ground was littered with rock. I’m happy with the patch ahaa

My compost pile that I now use to plant whatever and use as cover/nutrition for trees every fall and spring consists of grass clippings, leaves and shredded junk mail if it’s just paper, table scraps an-including meat and bones bc then the raccoons turn compost pile for me. all dumped in shady spot behind fence! And it’s literally black gold!

I just ordered a drought resistant white mini-clover. You're slightly hotter than I am, however we both have issues with moisture or lack there of. I don't want to have to water (ever!) so I am planting the white mini clover in addition to the crimson clover for spring/early summer since the white mini clover does better with warmer temps. Thanks for the update!

Thanks for the follow up and good to know. Also, on your closeup of the grass, I would recommend that you sharpen your mower blade(s). The tops of the grass are really mangled. I learned that from my yard guy and now I have two blades, one on the mower and one always sharp waiting in the wings

Thanks for following up. Bummer it didn’t rock. I hit my yard with very little intention besides watering every day. Hoping that “life” would “find a way”. Haha. Nope. Zero clover success for me this Summer. Clarifying… are you gonna try BOTH micro clover on bare soil in one spot and full size clover mixed in to nearby existing lawn to compare results? I’d be excited to see that.
@inthegardenwithpatrick62476 ай бұрын
My next "experiment" is going to be that patch of Bermuda grass at the end of the video. The area is 8'x30'. I plan to plant the MINI Clover in the entire area. I am going to totally remove all the grass in 1/2 of the lawn (8'x15') and sow seeds (mini clover) in this area AND the existing Bermuda to get an idea if my theory about the St. Augustine grass choking out the mini clover is correct. I really like the concept of the low growing mini clover (4"-6" height). My water bill is just ridiculous! Thanks for watching and subscribing!

I put the link to the updated video in the original video, but I just posted the updated video on my channel. kzbin.info/www/bejne/imirfodnjclrZ7s Regarding the sand... I did not really measure. The spreader was open to the largest setting. That way the sand and seed would cover the area. Thank you for subscribing!

Sometimes stuff happens! I've failed for the last couple of years with tomatoes - BER! I've since learned that cherry tomatoes do better in my hot climate - so next year I'll try them. I have one small patch of garden where nothing will grow. I've put homemade compost in it, sheep manure, watered it and the plants just sit there and start to die. Once I dig them up and put them in a pot, they grow like crazy. Soil deficiency? None of my friends garden so a Community Garden would be me doing all the work and everyone else eating the produce. I've just planted ginger in the garden and some in a pot. It'll be interesting so see what happens. My soil is awful in spite of all my work but I just have to keep on trying because that's what gardeners do. Hugs from Crete!
