I have a full time corporate job. DJ’ing as a hobby month 2: picked up 1 paid gig, 2 unpaid for big names in US skiing/snowboarding community. So far I spent $3k on deck $1k on PA, $1.49/song off beatport , $1.2k mac air and additional gear 😂

There's one thing that AI will never be able to replace, and that's human inspiration. I'm sure the day will come when AI will be able to out perform people, but soul inspiration? That requires a heart, not just a clever-dick algorithm.

@@Raincat961 Intuitive creativity, being one sign of this "soul". No, I don't think AI will ever master it. Mostly because it comes from feeling, and machines don't feel.

On the topic of DJ Studio. I’m just getting back into this from lat 80’s and early 90’s. I love technology but I really love the old art of DJ’ing. When someone says “just mixing” in a derogatory sense, I feel sorry for them. There is an art to it. Yet they are the same people that complain when quantizing and beat grids are off. Some have ignored the basics because of technology. Some of my favorite sets are the only vinyl minimal sets on YT. It’s not because I’m a vinyl purist or anything but because they are using old time skills. To each his own. I’m no hater and time has moved on. Doesn’t mean I can’t miss the old days.

@subschnee4573 24 күн бұрын
You know the point in mixing while beatmatching is, that you're doing two things at a time. This is an art that one has to handle and it's very difficult with all the other factors that come into play at the same time which are level matching, selecting, crowd control and maintaining self satisfaction. This are 6 things one has to be able to be doing when DJing of the grid in the exact same moment and I tell you that's this a selection of talent by itself. I mean let alone level matching with vinyl is a thing of it's own before we even dive into the interplay between the other aspects. It's a lost art and I'm thankful that there are still people around that take the challenge and like to go for a hike than a walk in a park. Don't get me wrong, parks can be nice and the right thing for some people,personally I like hiking, And some are into climbing mountains...
@AnthonyThomas-o4l
@AnthonyThomas-o4l 21 күн бұрын
@subschnee4573 Level matching gives you an excuse to twitle with knobs. I never had vast differences between songs, only small ones and usually from smaller labels. That is why many don't like the FLX 2.

@@AnthonyThomas-o4l If you want to mix music that was produced from different decades and/or genres you have to match levels. Already mixing a side A 45rpm cut is different in volume than the second side B 33rpm cut, let alone a LP cut or a classic Disco record with a House tune fresh from the press.

I've got that DJ.Studio-Ultimate, I would say it's superb, I've just scratched the surface of what it can do for me as a DJ, at present I simply feed it some tracks I like, it arranges a playlist for me, export to rekordbox then to my RX3 bingo, but really it's for people like me who are also DJs+frustrated musicians, DJ studio has 2x sample lanes and mastering and soon a dedicated sample section using pre-made beats & loops from an on-line service, with stems you can get any classic tune and then drag it kicking & screaming onto a modern dance floor, dj.Studio is a positive boon for any budding DJ I'd say.

The VR scene is great fun and I would love to see the boys explore the world, having the VR raves like Just Party, Shelter and Fishbowl are great. The fact it's now evolved from the online to the irl with groups like Shelter bringing the online community into a irl Club or Fowl Play. That blend of the irl and VR is already here. You just gotta find it.

I was at JH Leeds and as a 49 year old and not having been out to a club for 26 years 🤣 was surprised at the age of the crowd time it just showed that the club scene for that type or event still has a place. Also as a complete course member actually going out and watching 3 quality DJ’s actually made it all make sense if you know what I mean. Great podcast as always 💪
