Nice video! I wish we had the 4.4 diesel with the 8speed in the North American market, all we got was the 5L and 5L supercharged petrol which are notorious for the timing chain failure. The best years for us are the 2006-2009 4.4L and 4.2L petrol V8s, 2008 and 2009 being the best option.

You can pick these up cheap these days. I call the "chavmobiles". Still prefer my Subaru Legacy Sti Estate, in white with its gold alloys. Way more classier than any BMW, is rare, is still worth £22,995 on a 07-plate, looks better, is more practical, has 4wd, goes like stink and gets positive comments about it, because there are only a handful of them around. To me, the BMW M140, although incredibly quick, is no good in snow, the wet, it has no 4wd system, etc. So it leaves me to suggest, a car that lacks classiness.

I bought an L322 4.4 SE 2011 plate with 124k on the clock in January this year. Its been great. Its a lovely place to be in. Solid, luxurious, reasonably cheap to own compared to any new car on a pcp. I reckon I’ll keep it as long as it keeps going. I’m not interested in a new car. I’m 59 and this Will hopefully see me out.

For depreciation you brought the wrong one. You could have brought a clean 3.6 v8 same mileage for 4.5k now that you could have stuck another 60k miles on it over the next few years and probably still be worth 2.5k. Your 9k 2012 in a few years with 180k on the clock will be worth around 3.5k

@@tobythetankpienmash8129 Depreciation is very subjective ….. I’m buying IMHO the best L322 (4.4 TDV8 and 8spd ZF) having lost c.90% of its value whilst still only being 12 years old. We’ll use it for years and years until it eventually can’t go any more. Will it depreciate more than if I’d have kept my old battered Shogun? Of course, but there’s always a trade-off between spec/year and limiting depreciation. There’s no right choice when it comes to depreciation, otherwise nobody would ever buy a new car! 🤷‍♂️

Well , i have a 2.2i roadster 1902 june zed . I picked it up 15 months ago with 10.7 miles on the clock ( now at 14.8) . The car still has all the original kit including the tyres, this guy who ddid the reviw ( in his opinion) did not mention the seats are electrical adjustable fron to back and floor to ceali g , my seats are leather and no way do i fi d them slippy . The weight ratio is 50/50 so i find the handling absolutely reat , it just make me smile when i take it out , my wife adores the car , and people come up to me and say what a beautiful car . I had the car in for 4 days to have Gtechnic ceramic rerum coating on the body wheels and glass , so it looks in almost showroom condition . We have looked at the latest x4 ( 59k ) for the top speck , and it is fantastic, but we can buy a lot of sunny holidays with that money , so for now the z3 meets all our expectations.....

I have to agree with everything you say. last year I had an engine and gearbox remap done. An already great car just got so much better, even more torque and an increase in bhp now means that it will hold high gears even better with an increase in miles per gallon. I live in southern France where the roads are good and quiet, I an getting high 30s on local roads and mid 40s on autoroute journeys. A quick flip of the paddle and the car will shift into 8th gear and now hold that even at 1000 rpm going uphill. I frequently return to the UK and even after 5 hours continuous driving I get out fresh and rested. What a fabulous car.

@FastandFun
@FastandFun 9 күн бұрын
@@716tg3 most damage occurs in the first few minutes of any cold engine start whilst the fluids (oil) are getting to the correct op temp. So repeating this cycle an unnecessary amount of times increases the wear/risk. Once started, you need to get all the temps up to operating temperature which can only be done with driving the car and varying the revs in the engine. You also have to consider other factors too including getting the exhaust up to temp so as not to leave with any moisture inside. Once you’ve done that, it’s not simply about putting the car back into the garage as the whole process should then be repeated for putting the car off the road which can be a pain. Hence, if the car is only off the road for 4-5 months max, then you will have no problem following my steps in the video.

Also running Winmax on our Megane 3 RS's on track with stock discs and RBF700 fluid and the are brilliant. Can easily do a whole season of time attack racing on a set of pads. Also for road use when brake temps dont get high it will eat the disc, but when on higher track opertating temps not as much.

Agree, overall yes is the answer, but you to have a specific mindset at a particular stage in life and be willing to spend when the need arises. I have had one for 7 years with 223k on the clock and used daily. Used in a rural setting daily and only gets washed by the rain. It is rugged and refined at the same time. As it ages/miles creep up be prepared for the irregular to happen eg bonnet catch/wire break, split turbo vacuum pipe, fuel tank sender unit et al. It’s all part of life’s reach tapestry of RR/LR ownership; you just need a stomach for it!

As a Mitsubishi enthusiast, I was looking for a replacement for my Galant Wagon, which rust took away from me. :,( . Checked all the Pajeros /Shouguns nutil one day I though, hey, how about some more luxury and startet digging into L322s. Now I'm hooked and can't wait to get one. The one and only thing I do not care about ist depreciation. When I buy a car, I buy it with an intent to have it forever. I would have never let my Galant go , unless the TÜV (i think MOT in England) and my trusted mechanic (who is a Mitsubishe race driver and die hard fan) told me to let go. Land Rover it is.

I found you from your SL500 stuff (R231 SL500 owner) and have just watched all of your Scotland trip videos. Yes, you can do it in one day. We live just north of Bristol and have stayed in Plockton (near Kyle of Lochalsh) for a week several times in May/June, 550 miles. First time we overnighted in Carlisle. After that we left at 4.00am, (packed the car the night before) the sun is soon up, M5 is deserted, past Birmingham well before the breakfast rush hour, light traffic on that awful stretch from Brum to Lancaster, Carlisle about 9.00-ish for a fuel and food/coffee stop. Past Glasgow before lunchtime and you’re well into the highlands by the afternoon, Arrive Plockton about 4.00pm. Total stops 1.5 hrs, driving time 10.5 hours but very relaxing due to mainly deserted roads at the start. Same on the return but you do get into a lot of traffic by Birmingham around lunchtime. BUT you get the fabulous bonus of sunrise over the highlands (Glencoe if you’re lucky} to set you off on your way home. Best, TonyS

@@dhdove I live in the Forest of Dean, so quite close and similar distance to yourself getting to the Highlands. Sounds like a plan and one that I’d probably do if/when I repeat this trip.
