Joe is right Paul and you should listen to your editor. If he wants to use a different video editing software that you are not used to from your time editing your own videos and said software he wants to use is free to use for non-commercial applications or a 1 time payment of $295 for the studio version instead of Adobe's per license subscription service that over the long term costs far more.... Not only will you save money but your editor can edit better using software he prefers and is more familiar with making cheaper to make but better videos.

This comes through when they talk to actual engineering people which GN are not. I can only hear the same “TJ-MAX” and “Delta T” over and over as their only talking point because that’s the extent of their knowledge. It comes off as faux.

@@o0Donuts0o While GN are not the final word in technical reviews, there are one of only a few tech youtubers who do very detailed reviews and analysis. But that has little to do with the topic at hand. GN are one of the few channels who dare to challenge, criticise and investigate companies whose sponsorships and advertising make up a significant amount of channel revenue - it costs them money in the long run. And if anything good comes out of it, you are the beneficiary.

I think these influencers are full of it. First, the AMD RX 6600 is the fastest growing GPU and most used (next to the RX 580 which is very much on it's way out) GPU made by AMD (according to the steam hardware survey). Second, the influencers test these CPUs with 4090s and 7900xtxs and then present the data to everyone in such a manner as to say "look the i9-14900k or Ryzen 7 7800x3d is the CPU for you" when in reality the overwhelming number of gamers (as represented in the Steam Hardware Survey) are using GPUs that are substantially similar to the RX 6600. I would bet that 90% of the GPUs (as represented in the steam hardware survey) are far closer in performance to a RX 6600 than an RTX 4090. What the Hardware Unboxed data shows (and to a lesser degree the AMD data) me is that if you are using the 90% lower performing of GPUs represented in the Steam Hardware Survey and not the top 10% you can use a Ryzen 5 7500f (and possibly a much less expensive cpu) from Aliexpress for $130 and your performance in gaming will be comparable and sometimes better than a $546 i9-14900k CPU from your favorite retailer. But this very valuable point gets lost in the discussion. I am so sick of these influencers pushing the agenda of NVIDIA, AMD and Intel. The influencers will claim to be outraged when AMD puts their products in the best light they themselves do it to push unnecessary products every day. But what the **** do I know, I am quite happy with my 7500f that I paid $112 for from Aliexpress (for that matter I was happy running an e5-1660 overclocked to 4.4 ghz that I paid $15 for on a Dell T5810 motherboard I bought for $25 shipped) and my 3080ti (that I paid $180 from a seller on ebay... that needed a little work) but nobody will pay you to say that.

Yep, those AMD benchmarks were way bad, but let's be honest, their CPUs and platforms have been great the past many years ever since Ryzen, let's not forget that and not forget also LOTS of people have been recommending them for years, which has been legitimate and fair. Also Intel and Nvidia just do makeup on their benchmarks and charts as well over and over again - ALL GUILTY. I was surprised on how hard people came down on AMD for that. Don't get me wrong: IT IS WRONG. But when I originally saw it, it felt like just another day at the office. How many times do I need to learn "never trust official benchmarks, always wait for independent reviews"? I don't remember how many decades ago that was obvious for me. GN Steve and the Asus people is what has got my attention. Tough interactions, tough long conversations, hopefully they really do change their behaviour. That whole "oh, there's a miniscule dent on the plastic, would you like to replace the whole screen for 100s of moneys?" was appalling. I need to see actual results, but they took it on the chin, I respect that. Still feels way over the top bad for the consumers who were done wrong... :(

The Ryzen 5800XT could have been vaguely fun if they'd tried. They could have made corporate noises about "Maturing fabrication processes at TSMC" allowing for a reliable supply of higher-binned silicon. Not exceptional, but still somewhat interesting. Make a joke about how there's a competition in the engineering department to see who can get the next/last approved AM3 product launch. Ta da! You get a bit of good will and a bit more money from additional product segmentation. Instead they've managed to look scummy and take an own-goal for something unneeded.
@craigdeeter80423 ай бұрын
AMD's bullcrap benchmarks - Have to agree with you. And it's sad. Why the hell would they think crap like this would fly? And it was totally unneeded. Any self identified tech geek understands that as process nodes mature, chips slowly get a bit better till they can be binned with higher clock speeds. All AMD had to do was say that "Hey we are now getting better frequencies out of these CPUs, and are using the XT suffix to identify them." I just don't get it.

Google had one TINY little victory this week: They managed to finally fix whatever they broke in Chrome several versions back, that literally rendered the little icon onr the upvote button invisible, meaning it was impossible to tell if you'd already upvoted something you liked or not. Kudos, I guess? And nice own goal there, AMD. smh. You'd think they'd remember when just a couple of years ago, Intel would do those wild "apples to durians" comparisons of their mobile chips (while listing the ridonkulous settings disparities that nerfed AMD's movuile chip in the back of the slide decks for all to see and mock), and, oh, I dunno, maybe not engage in that same crap themselves. Ugh...

@peterjansen48263 ай бұрын
I am not convinced by Steve that AMD falsified the data, but AMD was dishonest and they cherrypicked settings which they usually don't do with their CPU-marketing. That sucks! I suspect that the marketing-department wanted to make the point that these older CPU's can be fine if you have a lower quality graphics card (the idea behind it is that people who are on a budget can choose that CPU if they buy a low tier graphics card) but if you want to show that (fine) then you should also show that with a higher quality graphics card it definitely is not fine and wasteful (needing to upgrade your CPU earlier again). I dislike the idea behind that marketing because the user might buy a midend graphics card 3 years later and then the CPU will strongly bottleneck the performance of the game.

I'll add the rebranding of a large number of Ryzen 7000s to Epyc 4004 to bilk people out of another couple of bucks just for them putting another name on the box. Yes, exact same processors, just different shapes of ink that form the things we call letters and numbers.

AMD exists only to keep Intel from getting TOO lazy. Personally I think Nvidia should buy Intel and build new Intel CPUs that are far beyond anything Intel has ever been able to design or fabricate. I've never owned an AMD based machine and never will.
@geekinasuit83333 ай бұрын
I can understand a bottleneck creating a tie, but why a slight performance increase over Intel? For people with older GPU's who do not want to upgrade, the comparison makes some sense, as long as it was disclosed for that reason. All of this crap, however, really no one cares about, and the Intel processor is barely any faster better than the AMD version, not to mention, there's more than certain performance issues to be mindful off, there's thermals, energy, cost, etc. Stopped watching Steve's channel years ago, too much winning about nothing, and I don't know why I clicked on this bait. I'm out.

Paul, I'm trying to get my co-workers to clean up their desktop files, by getting all their files to seperate drive and not on the desktop. My question is, does this even matter for the local/roaming profiles anymore for daily performance on windows 11? I believe it still have mass impact on performance.

NVIDIA got lucky with it's "AI" chips. This is the same technology they have spent years creating for Crypto processing so they have a head start. But power houses like Intel will be close behind, and I can see much more competition in this space very soon.
