How did you know the tensioner was bad, was the belt squealing?
@JrZCarZ3 күн бұрын
@@aguitarhero007 the tensioner was making an audible rattling noise at idle and low rpms. Once the rpms were up a little there was enough pressure on the belt to keep it from making noise.
@aguitarhero0073 күн бұрын
@@JrZCarZ oh ok, that’s helpful. I’m gonna be looking at a friends 07 Odyssey tomorrow and his just has a belt squeal but it goes away when warmed up. I at least wanna see how the belt looks because if the noise goes away it might not really need anything. I was thinking idler possibly but from what I’ve seen these idlers tend to rattle and shake when bad or have a grinding noise.

quick question ,do i need the parking breaks ON? before doing all this? thanks
@JrZCarZ6 күн бұрын
When doing the rear brakes, you can't have the parking brake on and replace everything so you will have to have the wheels chocked in the front to keep the car from moving.
@billbright17558 күн бұрын
What a horrendous decision to design this. Ford should recall for repair at their expense. It’s a ridiculous and will fail with out warning and leave you stranded.
@JrZCarZ8 күн бұрын
If they didn't design this engine with the water pump this way, it would have been damn near bulletproof, and with good power.

That's definitely true! At least it's not these garbage 'lifetime' sealed non-servicable units that they have planned obsolence to make you buy a new trans or new car every couple years. Cars now are throw away items instead of being able to keep them for a long while with preventative maintenance. It's all about that money.....

@JrZCarZ9 күн бұрын
I think it's roughly 5 feet with the back seats down so you would have to be kind of short to be comfortable enough to camp in the back of it.
@delvinbegay150210 күн бұрын
Sounds like it would be easier just to pull the motor and replace the water pump.
@JrZCarZ10 күн бұрын
Honestly, Id the water pump fails and the coolant mixes with the oil, you're better off pulling the motor and just replacing it cause it's a guarantee that the bearings are hosed ......... So many of these engines met a premature demise because of this terrible water pump design.

Quick question, do I need to get a caliper compression kit, so it rotates the caliper as it goes back in? I see you did it with a c-clamp, but I don't believe it is recommended to do it that way. That coolant reservoir tells the whole story. Neglected cooling system. For anyone who has these engines that were produced before 2019- get the orange coolant out, replace it with the new ford yellow coolant. Distilled water and a good flush of the heater core and radiator- in my case, i did 5 drain and fills within 3 months. I figure most of it is out. I essentially change my coolant whenever i change my oil. 5-7500 miles. Take care of these and they can run for a good while.
@JrZCarZ29 күн бұрын
The coolant was clean as I maintain my vehicles so I'm not sure what you are getting at looking at the OUTSIDE of a coolant tank making an assumption. Additionally, there was green coolant in this 2007 as I replaced the water pump about 1000 miles before the rod bearing failure. If you are changing your coolant every 5-7k miles, that's complete overkill, but whatever floats your boat 👍

Nice review. I have had my 2010 for 2-3 years and just crossed the 215,000 mile marker. Mine has had a few hick ups, but what do you expect for a 14 year old car. I like mine a lot and am starting to throw money at it here and there. The fuel line was the hardest part to swallow at almost $800 to replace. But all told I got a pretty good deal for a car that has cost me just under $3k total. Also I like this channel so I will subscribe to it.

it happend to me twice, almost 5 years between fails, and engine still running after 10 years. It is a pain in the ass to fix it, but I think that desing has a purpose, in case of leak, all antifreeze will mixed with oil, since oil is too hot, it will boil water, that steam from valve cover will go to air intake, and since water doe not burn will turn off your engine safetly. It is a mess, but I think that is the reason to have the water pump inside the engine.

Thanks for the video. Jeep just started throwing all sorts of codes relating to circuit low voltage. 12 codes in all. I assume a ground issue so I came here to find where they are. I think that one on the passenger side is the culprit. I'm going to do a video on my channel for this issue. For anyone who cares to listen, I HIGHLY recommend soldering and using dielectric grease and then heat-shrinking. At a minimum, use dielectric grease and then heat shrink to protect all this work you're about to do!
