Ford Sync Reset and Firmware Update. Resolve Issues In Your Ford or Lincoln!

Do you have issues with Sync in your Ford or Lincoln? Does your Phone connect, but not your audio, or your audio work but not your phone calls? Do some options in the infotainment center just not work anymore? In the beginning of this video, I'll show you how to reset your Microsoft Ford Sync infotainment radio to clear intermittent issues.
The second half of the video I'll show you the process of how to update the firmware on your Sync system. It's not that hard to do, and you don't need to go to a dealership to do it!

thanks for the video. I was a little hasty when the screen went blank for nearly a minute after reboot, not giving the system time to continue the install. FYI - an alternative to climbing into the fuse box, pull the battery terminal for a few seconds.

You're right about pulling the battery terminal, but.when you do that you also reset all electronics in the car so it's quicker and easier to pull the fuse than reset everything and have all the pcm learned parameters reset too

I recently bought a 2017 ford festiva and it has the synch badging but the screen isn't a large touch screen like in your video or in the manual that came with the car. When I hit the phone button down below it does nothing. Will the reset method work?

What do I do if the screen keeps saying that one or more of my files were downloaded successfully? I have tried to reinstall them on the flash drive twice but nothing is changing

You may be able to use the steering wheel controls to navigate to OK.

That's a good possibility..... That or someone was messing around with the back of the radio and unplugged things or there may be another fuse that's blown.

Hey I was wondering if you would still have the sync 3.7 files you could share? I messed up my installation a while back, it didn't install correctly so I'd like to reinstall version 3.7 and then do the newest update after.

Humm...... I'd have to take a look back to see if I still have them. Doubtful though. You can create a my Ford account, add your vin and it'll give you whatever updates are available for your car.

@@JrZCarZ the update they have is the same one I tried installing in my truck but it didn't install correctly. I was hoping to get an older version to install and then do the newest update again to see if it would fix the issues I'm having

I have an issue with my sync 3. I've tried to update to newer version and and it was more than 3 hours updating ..i had to go ,because it was more time than expected and i unplug the USB before finishing.On the next day the screen was okay.. showing that Update Successefully installed ,then turned off and never turned on...The USB is not working anymore..i tried to remove the fuse 67 ,,power button with >>,the + from the battery,nothing works...The radio works,,i just cannot change the stations,Wi-FI works as well,during the night the screen is not completle black there is a light behind... Obviously there was an issue installing properly..my question is it possible to update from computer somehow ,if USB is not working.... or what how to solve this issue?

I believe there was a way of doing the update over WiFi as well if you connected the radio to a home WiFi. It's been a while though so I don't remember the prices of the top of my head

Have you tried to reinstall it again.

Delete the .zip file from your thumb drive. Then try again, no need to reinstall.
