Shorts don't work for learning. ❤ 2. Are you native French? If not, forget it. 3. Making up French language by transliteration using some grammar and vocabulary does not work. 4. French people know their language and can easily spot fake newbies. " Ah, ... I see you are American. You talk funny. Why don't you learn to speak French ? ... Oh, I see. There's nowhere to learn French in American. So that's why all the American I see in France don't speak French." "Go back to school, and don't learn some more French there. Quite a waste of time and effort."

Thanks for that information! We are going to Paris in the fall and researched the options for moving around. We live in Mexico and Uber is a good option here but, in Paris, there are reserved lanes for bus and taxi (official ones) that a UBER cannot use. I.E. it might take much longer to go around because of that. A good option that works like UBER but is for taxis is Taxi G7. You can download the app and just manage your rides like with UBER but with the added bonus of moving around town faster.

The French attitude towards language use is to say, "If you don't make an effort to speak my language, why should I make an effort to speak your language?!"
@LoveandParis_4 күн бұрын
Yes! We would argue it's not quite that way anymore in Paris. Plenty of people are happy to speak English with you if you at least start with a "Bonjour"!

Don’t take the comments about “speaking quickly” too seriously; people should learn how to adjust the speed of videos according to their preferences (hint: the little cog thing at the top right.) Ive been to Paris 13 times. There are plenty of public toilets. Its a great city for walking. The metro system, if you have half a brain, is very easy to use after your first 2 or 3 rides. Rue Cler, an 8 minute walk from the Eiffel Tower, is a great area full of cafés, shops, bars etc and hotels
@christophermichaelclarence600310 күн бұрын
Those public toilets you're referring are not even free and bloody stinks. I'd recommend you to use the ones from FastFood like McDonald's, Burger King...

Good advice. Having been to Paris 5 to 6 times (on the way to my condo in the Villefrance-sur-mer) , I can add a few things. You almost never need taxi; the metro gets you everywhere with a bit of walking. Try to book small hotel away from famous ites; they are usually overpriced. Eat in small bistros for wonderful French cuisine. Always go to a good boulangerie for breakfast. And watch out for pick pockets

I absolutely love walking in Paris! My general rule is, if less than 40 min. uphill, or an hour on more level ground, I walk. I've stayed in the 11e more than once, and walked to Montmartre, the Louvre, Pompidou, Notre Dame...Notre Dame's about my limit though. Longer trips I take the metro. One of the best things is you learn a lot about neighborhoods you'd otherwise just pass through. Little shops, des boulangeries, even small museums you would never have known about go on your "coming back tomorrow" list.
