I admire the heck out of you. You're the exact sort of person the GLBTQI+ can encompass -- yet you have your own story that isn't solely dedicated to the old song-and-dance of activism in the 2020s.

I'm very glad she is a lesbian. America needs more members of minorities to become homosexual. That being said, I find that this woman has a typical disregard for the taxpayers, and by promoting the confusion that comes from using these various gender pronouns it will hamstring the already pathetic efficiency of government, and cause taxes to go up. She should take some time and consider the taxpayers as much as she does minorities and homosexuals.

Paul! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. You are always welcome to share your ideas and suggestions, thoughts and concerns. We have a couple of responses, if you don't mind. First, minorities don't become homosexual. You are either LGBTQ+ or your are not. It's simply who you are, not who you become. Second, the way a government spends their tax dollars is up to legislators, not commissioners of Human Rights Commissions. And while we are not a political organization, per se, we do believe that every government should prioritize human rights in the full pursuit of justice and equality for all. As FDR said, “No democracy can long survive which does not accept as fundamental to its very existence the recognition of the rights of minorities.” The confusion surrounding pronouns is not a government efficiency issue. It's a social issue that can be solved with education and exposure. Frankly, it's about doing the right thing. Denying this basic human dignity is unacceptable. If it is denied, where is the line drawn? Should women be able to vote? Should Black people be able to own property? Yes. Everyone should at the very least be equal. Each time a human rights victory is won, it's an adjustment that has to be made at the government level (forms are changed, policies rewritten, opportunities are opened, etc.). Again, it's the right thing to do. Securing human rights should be a priority for every public institution. Anything less is a disservice to all people. Thank you again for your comment.

As a straight man may I say she is stunning.

Hi, Debi. My name is Jordan. I work for VideoOut. I just wanted to point out that this comment is, maybe unknowingly for you, rooted in a gender construct that values heterosexuality over anything else. By starting your comment with "as a straight man" and then following that with some sort of validation, it means that the person you're complimenting needs this from you in some way. You know? More specifically, it means that perhaps you think trans people need some sort of validation from straight people (they don't) or that it's exceptional for a straight man to find a trans woman beautiful (it's not). I'm sure this wasn't your intention. I just wanted to let you know how it came across, if you don't mind. For future reference, just say, "Carmen is stunning!" Leave off the qualifier. It doesn't matter if you're straight or not, or if Carmen is trans or not! Carmen is beautiful regardless, inside and out.
