I believe that you are able to manage the conversation without scaring the other person. If you are a photographer, you can talk about trips as a smooth and easy starting conversation and when the point of the topic of the beautiful nature of other places you can talk about the best areas for a family photo. The main and most important pictures that every person should print and save or save in any devise , but the point is because when someone goes on a travel we make a lot of pictures btu we don't take the most important ones or the best area and time . Boom you get the client . Remember there are potential clients that will request your service now , or later or in a few months or in the future.

WOW Simeon. Good on you for letting us know and, no! You are not the only one, not by a long shot, as I have found when talking to many others once you open up it is shocking to find others going through there own hell and trying to deal with it. It hit me 5 years ago, and the trigger? Someone not answering a phone, that was all it took to get me to snap. The scary part was the effect was immediate, everyone noticed the change in me, people who have known me for years kept asking what's wrong? I'm telling them I am ok, why ask, and so it went on, all the time it just got worse to the degree I was thinking crazy mad thoughts wanting to kill people. I had turned into an absolute total nasty b****d, yet, I could not see it. One night I went to bed, thankfully I woke up a few hours later soaked in sweat and had been having hallucinations, bad ones. My wife and daughter were in the living room watching TV and when I walked in, my daughter asked how many I had killed? HUH, What? How did she know? Yep, I was screaming, shouting everything, she came and recorded it. Oh God, what the hell was going on? Somehow they convinced me to go and visit my mum in North London as soon as possible. A few days later I went. By now, not thinking straight everything was a blur right up until I got to my mums house. When she answered her door her first words to me were "Who are you, what do you want"? And making sure I could not get in.. I laughed told her "Hi Mum you know your son the one and only"... "No, your not the lad I brought up, I do not see him in front of me". Turns out my wife, daughter, sons had called her and told her, she was for them the last hope. Thankfully it worked and while sitting in her lounge the penny dropped. Cutting the story short when I got back, straight to the docs and given 6 weeks off, stay home, clear my head, sort the life out and it worked. It was because of that phone call at work and once I told them, things were supposed to have changed but they haven't although now I know the signs. The biggest sign is to admit and realise there is something wrong. Listen to those around you and I mean listen. One person saying something, OK you can write it off but when everyone is saying the same thing, that is the point. I know being the business owner it is a different ball game for you and taking time off most times is not an option you have the luxury off but the good thing is you have realised and can adjust to deal with it. Sorry this was such a long reply but it is something I try to help others with as I have spoken to many since who have also suffered and listening to me has helped them come to terms with their own issues and do something. It sometimes takes the words of an outsider to help as well. I wish you all the luck in the world and hope you can also deal with those demons, it is hard work and will never leave you but at least admitting it now, you will know when to give them a good kick between the legs. (The demons I mean). 🙂

This is such a valuable story Rik. It just shows how important it is to take time to recognize the triggers, the signs. And to make steps to adjust. For me, your story shows how bad things can get and also demonstrates the fall out. Thank you so much for sharing. I know I’m not the only person who will appreciate this.

@@simeonquarrie Thanks for the reply Simeon. Seeing your post also helps me to explain to people it can happen to us all and there is no shame in talking about it. You will find as time goes on just how many suffer in silence and the relief on there faces when at last they have someone they can talk to knowing they have been through the same is amazing. I thought prior to it all I was invincible and it was a hard lesson to learn finding that in fact I was not. The good thing now is I hope to be able to help others just by letting them know I will listen and if possible offer some advice. At worst can be an outlet for them to air their thoughts, it is a real tough thing. Anyhow, hope you carry on the road to recovery and again thanks for the original post.

Welcome back, its been quite a while since we last saw you! I guess that's a good thing as it means being busy! Totally get what you're saying here. I have my own video business of over 10 years now, and its led us into places we never expected. We're doing live IMAG screen switching and full recording of concerts & festivals now for some big players. That in itself brings its own stresses as clients and band managements are so much more demanding than were usually used to, so I find myself trying to please everybody for fear of losing them as a client if not. I'm also working late into the night trying to catch up with other jobs that I simply can't find the time for anymore. I'm not losing sleep yet but sometimes I'm close to it :-/ I found this video comforting that I'm not the only one having challenges over certain successes. Love your content! Hope to hear more from you!

Nice explanation! It’s good to hear this side of team creation in such a concise and logical order. I have a business based on my patents. My business is not film production, but works with film producers. I’m researching how to have my business be helpful for film producers without being annoying lol. Are there any forums you recommend for reading and learning the needs of film producers?

I took away that, Buying will allow me to quickly pick up an do personal projects and fast turnaround pro gigs. Renting will keep the money in my pocket, until I 0start relying too much on it, then its too expensive.

Thankyou for this. Interestingly, iv been pondering this very exact issue for the past three months as i intend on switching careers from Civil Engineering to film making - my passion and calling! I made a few productions in the past for competitions and i recall once hiring video editors to assist as i found it a challenge juggling my career and passion. Our interactions were swift and seamless because i knew what i wanted and they were very skilled. The only issue i had though was that my ego got in the way as i didnt feel this was ''all me''. This video sparked something in me as iv just realised that no man is an island and team effort always wins. It puts into perspective the old adage, ''If you want to go fast, go alone; but if you want to go far, go together'' Thanks
