With these productive players from FCS and lower that we are adding can those players step up to the speed of the game at the division one level is always my big question with them? Wisconsin players usually look like turtles trying to chase those rabbits from teams like Ohio State. We can't match their speed and our corners play 10 yards off their man and because of that makes for easy catches on crossing routes across the middle and then we are chasing that speed trying to make a tackle and just can't keep up Xavier Lucas seemed like he was a guy that might be able to match up with those receivers and now he is gone. Same goes on the offense side of the ball we usually don't have the speed at WR to really spread out teams or threaten them deep. No wonder we face so many 8 to 9 man boxes making it tough to run the ball.

Guy on the left is not very smart. Your rationale is XL’s attorney hasn’t filed suit therefore he doesn’t have a strong case. Then you immediately say that WI has a strong case. If that were correct, why hasn’t Wisconsin sued Xavier Lucas for breach of contract? This is such a dumb ass Homer take, as a licensed attorney, it’s mind numbing. Don’t you think it’s possible that XL hasn’t filed suit becuase it’s going to cost a lot of money and take a lot of time? Have you considered that time is of the essence for XL and he likely doesn’t have money until he can sign a NIL deal with his new school? Btw I’m from Wisconsin and went to UW for school. I’m just not a brain addled Homer that can only view things from one perspective.

I do know the U has added several other Db's, so there is no gty the U would even take him now at what they were originally offering. I expect this to drag out into the summer. Then hopefully for XL's sake he can enroll there in the fall, albeit for less cash. It definitely would be great if the UW sets a precedent in this case. For collective bargaining agreements at the very least.

Really glad to see WI taking a stand . The NCAA should be ashamed of how they rolled out NIL. Player tampering is out of control. Need 2 year contracts, salary caps X University. Also, need to aggressively litigate tampering. WELCOME TO THE NFL. Destroying college athletics and destroying connferences like the Pac 10 that started in the early 1900's. Rutgers D in the second half gave the Badgers fits, resulting in 16 turnovers in the game. That wont be the last time we will see that so hopefully we can respond with the offense to overcome all the points given up off turnovers. That was really the only darkside of that win other than giving up 18 offensive rebounds and second chance points. Have to clean that up.

NFL Draft - A Jan. 24, 2025, deadline to petition for special eligibility for championship game participants was established. NFL teams will receive a list of names on Jan. 25 with players having 72 hours (until Jan. 27) to revoke their submissions. On the opposite end, an early soft deadline of Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, will be put into place for players whose seasons have been completed at an earlier date. The traditional hard deadline for special eligibility will be Jan. 15. Also of note, the deadline to opt out of the 2025 draft is Feb. 7, 2025

So much turnover with players and coaches either leaving, getting fired or moving to another position within the current staff. I guess its the world of college football we live in these days but I have a hard time getting excited right now for the future. I had high hopes for Fickell coming in and realized the cupboard of player talent was pretty bare when he came in. However I drank to much of the Kool-Aid the first two years that Fickell could do no wrong. I really need to see it on the field going forward before I can get excited again. I didn't expect great results the first two years from a wins and losses perspective but I expected a well coached team on the field that would be ready to play every week. I saw that in the first two years when Barry took over. Have not seen that in the Fickell era which is my big concern. Hearing Fickell in press conferences after some games saying he had no answers does not inspire a lot of confidence that he has a handle on the team. I said I was giving him 3 years to see improvement on the field and I am sticking to that but their is heat in the kitchen. Player wise because of the transfer portal this is pretty much Fickell's team now so we can't blame Chryst anymore for that.

This football program feels so dysfunctional right now. You can cover all the various position rooms and the obvious intrigue in each of them and potential fixes but then you have the continuing coaching turnover and questionable hires on top of those. How can they have an identity when there is no personnel consistency to have an identity with? Fickell himself feels rudderless.

How did the program feel when we didn't even have a recruiting dept ..hiring Oline coaches to be the rb coach and a TE coach with no play calling experience to be our OC....??

@@kevinwillz6457 Mostly the same those last 2 years of the Chryst era. At the least there was a lot more stability if not the results we all want. It actually felt more promising IMO. What we have now does not feel promising or inspire much confidence.

I don't know where you get the idea this program is dysfunctional. Wisconsin has a excellent staff with some turnover but not a lot. The recruiting has been excellent (top 25) the last two years, and the portal recruiting has been near to top of the big ten the last two years. It just takes some time to mesh all the new talent. This coming years schedule is brutal as well as last years, so we can't expect much improvement in 2025 record wise, but I'm sure we'll see better on field performance. The schedule looks much more manageable in 2026, so don't be surprised Wisconsin makes some noise in 2026.

I hope I am wrong on this and they do have a balanced offense between run and pass which is really needed in this day and age of football but do people really think they are going to throw the ball that much? For that reason I am not as worried about who is going to be playing wide receiver as others are. I fear they are going back to the days of run heavy offense and that will make it harder to recruit top flight QB's and WR's if the majority of the time you handing the ball to a running back. Hope I am wrong but the big offseason story for me is what is Jeff Grimes offense going to look like? We have a talented TE now via the transfer portal and some young TE's with loads of potential so I do hope they throw the ball and run a diversified and balanced offense.

The playoff seeding needs a lot of work. Oregon gets “rewarded” for going 13-0 and winning the Big 10 by having to play Ohio State while Penn State loses the Big 10 championship game and has a cakewalk draw. People might claim the bye is worth it but it sure as hell didn’t look worth it for Oregon when you compare to Penn St. Hopefully it changes next year

My question is; how long will the boosters put up with Gard's marginal record in the Big, at mid pack, and getting diced in the 1st rd of the ncaa, if they even get in? When will 20-11 seasons not be good enough? For me i'm thinking after next year, when his buy out is only 2 years. And if say Coach Chambliss gets the oppty to go back to his alma mata Penn St and coach that will seal the deal, because he is the only coach on staff recruiting the good athletic players in HS or the Portal.

The home games are far better than neutral sites. What makes college great are the home atmospheres. There should be 2 rounds of home games in the current 12 game format. Ridiculous that the top 4 seeds don't get a home game. Agreed on 8 teams though. 8 would have been perfect.
