Nebraska isn’t that bad of a team. They swapped in Dana Holgerson who’s literally a Head Coach. He opened up their offense.

Neb is a mediocre team, not a bad team.

No disrespect but Fickell might be y’all’s Scott Frost. This Wisconsin team looks very similar to the Nebraska teams I’ve watched for the last 6 years

Man I'm just at a loss. How does D play so well against Oregon and so poorly against Nebraska? Genuinely confused
@dimitri1515Ай бұрын
Emotional exhaustion. All that effort, but no shot with one of NCAA's worst QBs. Then knowing that QB would still be the starter, I think they just felt hopeless.

It boils down to what trestle said in his presser. He doesn't believe they were schematically outmatched. He believes his players need to play better. So instead of changing the scheme to meet the players skill set he would rather lose. So it's an ego thing

Fickell is 12-12 now as head coach. Chryst could have done at least that well. Best wins for Fickell as the coach is against a 4-2 Rutgers team last season and a 4-2 Rutgers team this season. That's it.
@brianh1287Ай бұрын
Yep. Fickell decided to tear down a standing building to start over, rather than building off the still standing foundation that all the prior coaches had built.

Wisconsin is second in the APR rankings, but there are 77 teams that already have the required 6 wins. There are 82 total bowl spots. There are 15 teams with 5 wins that play this weekend. Two play each other, so the winner of Virginia-Virginia Tech gets spot #78. That means there 4 remaining spots between 13 teams plus one more ahead of Wisconsin in APR. The math is not looking good for extending the bowl streak if the Badgers fall to Minnesota.
@billybob8228Ай бұрын
Sorry fellas You're just not right about the defensive set. Prior to Aranda Badgers based defense was a 4-3 Aranda and Leonard both ran a 3-4
@natefehrman3396Ай бұрын
Wilcox, Leonhard, Aranda's base D was 3-4...passing downs they would go to a 2-4-5

The motto in the offseason was "Tough, Nasty, Disciplined". Well, this team is not physical at all compared to iterations of the teams we've seen in the past. That is the most disappointing part of this whole thing.
@BigHurt1776rebornАй бұрын
One more thought - Fickell was not a good coach at all during his first stint at a power conference team (Ohio State 2011). His team went 6-7 if I remember correctly. The prior year, Ohio State was 12-1 under Jim Tressel and the following season they went 12-0 under Urban Meyer. What changed in 2011? It wasn't the talent level, otherwise you would expect Meyer to have at least a couple of losses in his first year. Fickell is probably not qualified for being a head coach at one of the power conference schools.

The loss is one thing (I expected it), but to give up 45 is something different. This team is bad in all three phases of the game

I think the defense didn’t have 1 TFL against Nebraska . No impact plays. An NFL player makes splash plays against that level of competition. There’s talent there but there’s no junkyard dog in them. Soft.

Tressell’s game plan was horrible. We kept running the 4-2-5 and NE was coming in with heavy packages and two TE. You are going to get pushed around if they can easily double team DT’s or get to second level b/c they have the numbers on the line of scrimmage.
