Thanks my friend, felt good to get one done. Vinyl tags are fun to get a video out, but some questions do feel a little forced at times. I am sure I will put my own spin on it. Looking forward to your 2024 recap.

Great to see you back Sir Tim. I did not think that it was over 200 days since you last posted. I anticipate you popping up every three months or so. Anyways. You are back and that's all that matters. Interesting Toshinori Kondo release. He has played with some of the jazz giants. Mostly avant-garde stuff that I love. <> Stinks to hear that they are pushing out the reissues so fast {Cymande} that you are receiving warped pressings. When are the record labels/pressing plants going to realize that production quality comes before sales? The STP album cover reminds me of Bowie's "Blackstar". Excellent update Tim. Loved it. If I do not talk to you before the end of the year. I wish you and your family the very best Christmas and an ever better New Year~ Rob/Boston

Rob, always great to hear from you. The Toshinori Kondo release with DJ Krush is fantastic. Perfect marriage of chill trip hop and jazz. Highly recommend a listen. Cymanade frustrated me in that is sounded good, but the retailer clearly didn't store the records well. Takes away from the enjoyment of the purchase. But end of the day, I still get to listen to some amazing music. I hope you and yours have a great holiday Rob. Looking forward to catching up with you more soon, and more regularly:)

Well, well, well, look who is back! :) Holy crud, I was totally unaware of the Klark Kent stuff, but checked some samples and really digging it. Need to track one down I guess. I bought a cheap mic that plugs into my phones C connector - from Walmart - it sucked (used it for two videos last week Dec 9 & 10th), so I am back to just my phone mic.
@HighnoonsVinyl7 күн бұрын
Thanks Jeff. The Klark Kent is such a great listen. Fun, upbeat, I always have a little pep when I spin it. Considering a mic under 40-50 bucks, if I am gonna do this i would like to be happy with the output. Hoping to catch up with all the VC vids over the next few weeks.

Totally agree with your final thoughts regarding the exploratory, rather spiritually driven music that Hendrix could conjure...and your citing the exhilarating last couple minutes of Bold as Love, really is the perfect example of Jimi's power. BTW, on that 2000 Box set, Jimi can be found running through Bold As Love on an alternative take, very raw, very powerful!...You can hear Mitchell shouting "YEAH"! as Jimi goes nearly berserk on that final solo. It is Jimi at his very finest level of guitar shredding!
@curbozerboomer17734 ай бұрын
That High, Live, and Dirty bootleg, was NOT recorded at the Cafe A Go-G0...Rather, it was recorded by Jimi at The Scene Club. Some folks thought that Johnny Winter was jamming that night...not true...he was still in Texas at that time. Rick Derringer, of the McCoys, was likely the other guitarist...The McCoys were the "House Band" at the Scene, during that time frame. I own the bootleg titled "Woke up this Morning, and Found Myself Dead"...there was a British telephone number included on the back of the album--the late Collector Tony Brown answered the phone when I called, and he happily talked with me about my extensive bootleg collection. The high cost of the phone call was worth it!...Sadly, Tony Brown died, at the age of 51, from a heart attack...many years ago now. Anyway, as for the Cafe A-Go-Go...there does exist a bootleg of Hendrix jamming there with a few members of the Paul Butterfield blues Band...A standout version of Jimi, playing a rare live version of Little Wing, is the highlight--however, his blazing final guitar stanza is cut off before he finished it! That's a bootleg for ya!

The essential Jimi Hendrix that I had,had interviews, introduced me to fayne, the aleem brothers, his dad, at the time I thought was a sloppy version of machine gun that I now love. When the Jimi Hendrixl movie came out I was able to connect the dots, the faces, the names on the backs of albums.i was exposed to more black influences of the man.

Park Ave. records in the mid 2000’s was the spot to find some dope records. I went to college back then, and I’d always hit them up. Went back a couple years ago and was extremely disappointed. Overpriced and didn’t have the selection they used to have. I remember getting rare hip hop singles and albums from there. They didn’t have any of that when I went back. It’s a shame.
@HighnoonsVinyl8 ай бұрын
It's hit and miss for Park Ave. But the reason for the expansion is their 3/5/7 goodies need a home. Used to be all under the racks in totes and virtually impossible to dig. I have found a lot of incredible stuff there, but the prices definitely have changed. That's all over though.

Guru Guru is a band I never see, but Foundation got in some Krautrock not too long ago. No Guru Guru, but heavy hitters nonetheless. To me, Krautrock is made for vinyl, so that stuff goes fast. Not sure how I missed this. Dark was a FOMO purchase and glad I did. Fidelity wise it isn't going to blow anyone away but the music is top notch. It was hard for this one, I have a lot of prog in G but some letters were sparse.

@HighnoonsVinyl9 ай бұрын
Porcupine Tree is very accessible, but if you had to pick one to check out first, Fear Of A Blank Planet is a great point to jump in. A lot of their albums have themes, but I think musically and lyrically it's the most non-prog friendly. This was still hard for me as a lot of my prog is in a handful of letters, but I squeaked in lol.

You nailed it Tim. I would have never thought differently. Even if your whole collection consisted of bad seventies disco albums. You still would have crushed it. I probably would have pulled out some Zappa for the Z's. I think that he kind of falls into every A to Z list no matter what genre is being covered. Plus he is usually the only Z in most of our collections. {smile} Actually no. I have a band called Zebra that hailed out of the NYC area if I remember right. Anyways. Enough of my rambling. This is your awesomeness. Well done Tim. Both your collection and your appreciation for so many great prog albums/bands shined throughout. Hope you are all doing well.
