As a production note, you might try recording your work without talking to the camera and then write a concise script for it as you're editing the footage to fit the narrative. I only offer that because you mentioned you had trouble with 'um and so' as filler words. Otherwise, great video. I'll be watching again as I work on my own project. Thanks

Here is a tip from an OCD engineer wannabe. ALAWYS identify as “fluid ounces” or “weight”. Our 6000 year old weights and measures system blows. BTW, it’s 6000 years because that’s when Adam & Eve weighed the apple before eating it, and it wasn’t in metric units.

How do you wire the ignition switch to the engine for starting and to the throttle for starting?
@tgmelinda754412 күн бұрын
Our first order was delayed by 2 months because the items we ordered were not in stock. They failed to update this status on their website and didnt bother reaching out to us via email or phone call since that info was provided in our account details and as a note with the order itself. You'd think that maintaining inventory status of product availability on your website would be kinda important, just like contacting your customers if any issues arise with an order.. NOPE! I had to contact them to sort what the hold up was, select a different similar product that was in stock, in order to get things moving, since then from ordering to shipping and arriving has been pretty quick. Now on to the other issue that is with the actual light heads and how they do not sync up properly on alternating patterns. for example I have 4 devices all the same type and sync wire connected, I cycle through the patterns to an alternating one and what happens is 3 devices turn on and one is on, then 3 off and the one turns on, and t hat is how the alternating pattern syncs.. A-symmetrical AF, well this is ok if you have just two devices or even three as you expect three to be offset 2:1. So no matter what I try, nothing corrects this where it should be two on two off and alternate. So to correct this I set all four to steady on, programmed an off the shelf microcontroller to do the pattern and send those signals to 4 separate gpios, those then go to a custom built PCB that uses MosFets to switch the 12 volts on and off at high speeds so alternating quad flash now works and looks correct. That works beautifully, though I should not have had to do that. There is a reason Wheelan and code 3 are the top two and cost the most, as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for". As for the things we got from ETD, it's been over a year and nothing is broken or malfunctioning / not functioning which surprised me. I guess they are ok for light duty stuff like property security golf carts or city marshall that deliver court papers, vehicles t hat have hours of operation daily and are stored when not used, over things like a fire engine, locomotive or police vehicles where they are subject to all sorts of conditions and treatment.

So it’s 6-8 drops per ounce for the resin so why it is not 6 oz x 6 or 8 drops = 36 to 48 drops 1 ml = about 15 drops That’s 2.4 to 3.2 mL?

All those fees were quoted up front before. I'm still researching on what services to use for moving. It just depends on the needs of the customer. It's going to be a lot easier for me to load and unload my safe from a pod rather that calling a safe company to load and unload my safe on a box truck that 4 feet off the ground. I also don't want to have to unload my stuff in storage and reload when our house is ready. It is way more expensive but it will save me lots of trouble in the long run.

If you thin that epoxy with denatured alcohol it will soak into the wood much easier. I built an 18 ft fishing boat and I soaked all of the wood on that boat that way. The boat should outlast my grandkids.

Not sure where you’re getting 2 grand from. I just went to their web page and entered the dimensions of my building and it’s 8,479$ here’s the link. Make sure you enter 18’ wide, 40’ long and 13’ tall…… so I definitely didn’t get screwed. www.shelterlogic.com/sheltertech-sp-series-peak

gelcoat uses a different resin though. Adding pigment to resin is common especially black when working with carbon fiber. but its not gelcoat. Gelcoat doesnt shrink or crack like resin, Its more stable and makes superior fairing filler too than resin. I suspect gelcoat has a superior dimensionally stable resin base with less styrene and higher solid/solvent ratio

Just bought my 2nd bass boat and first ever fiberglass boat. When I run my hands over the paint it is rough the clear coat is gone. Wondering your opinion should I spray it with clear coat or should I do a clear gel coat ? Thanks !
@kevinrogers76502 ай бұрын
I bought the tools, and shrink wrap. Then I offered a winterization service where I'd pull the boat out at the public boatramp and park it in your yard. I'd top off the fuel tank and put fuel stabilizer in it. Then I'd change oil/sparkplug/replace water in engine with pure -100 degree F antifreeze, and finally a tuneup. Then shrinkwrap. I charged $575, + gas cost. I was over run. Initially, just wanted to make the money back on shrinkwrap tools. My cost for materials for winterization was about $300 bucks per boat. I had to hire help.

I just bought every needed including 12" wide hull tape from Uline which cost me $2100 cnd (tax included), Uline had everything at my door next day (Milton to Whitby) watched couple video's. My neighbor wanted to this to learn also, took us 2hrs. (I am sure next year we can do in lot less) Now the marina in Port Perry wanted $565 including tax to do my boat. Stuff I bought at Uline is enough to do boat 5 or 6 time before i need more (and then it will only be $200 to $300 for another 5 years). On the 4th time I am in "the green" doing it myself. If you own a boat & need to do this every year, its worth the investment as opposed to paying someone else.

Great video series. I recently picked up a 15' Glastron Alpha (basically a slightly bigger sunfish) and will be restoring the hull soon. 2 questions if you don't mind. First, the previous owner put a layer of CSM along the bottom of the hull that will need to be sanded down. I'm assuming this will be doable with a orbital and 80 grit to get it sanded smooth and into the correct profile? Second, I was curious how much gel coat I'll need to buy for this size hull. It's only a bit bigger than the sunfish so I was curious how much you ended up using for these boats. Thanks!

This is a perfect video because you never quite know just what you might come across with any project. That said, the hull was in decent shape, I wonder why someone would even bother painting it in the first place, let alone using latex? I was expecting to see some hidden damage. Sheesh! I subbed right away. I know this is a bit of an older video, but I'd still like to offer condolences to your family. Love the baby hand print tattoo on your palm, that's cool.
