A smaller box is better. These boxes just end up sitting in the back of closets likely to never be needed again but there just in case of emergency and you need to sell one of your watches. Might as well have them take up less space and the Omega boxes have always been comically oversized.

Wow! You have a zillion Rolex watches that right handed can select from - and your so petty you are annoyed that Rolex made a single watch for us left handed guys? Rolex should make most of their watches in left or right. Around 10% of people are left handed. Rolex should make it “illegal” to sell to right handed guys.the next one should be the gold and stainless blue dial and bezel submariner.

The Rolex I wanted sells for 50k which makes it unrealistic to get and so I kicked that Rolex dream to the moon. I like gold watches with gold bezels just looks clean. Here I am years later came across the Day Dates. I’m seeing all gold 18k for under 10k I’m blown away?

I enjoyed your longer format interview. Could also be interesting to get guests who are passionate about watches + they have an interesting complementary profession: artist, musician, technical builders of things (industrial design). I’m thinking about Frank… can’t remember his last name… designed the Ferrari F430 the mini cooper, other Ferraris, and has a you tube channel I believe. Keep up the good work! Soggy in Salem (Oregon)

This was a phenomenal episode!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 It's so fascinating to hear from "anti-watchmakers" like Ressence within the watch industry! The way Benoit explains how he approached the mission of time-telling from a completely unique angle was so interesting! I knew Ressence, but not enough. This was a great episode to push me into the rabbit-hole! I'll be getting that book and learning more about them now. My wallet is scared! 😄 Well done everyone involved!

The 2254 is the Seamaster Professional 300m that looks like it could actually be used for diving. The Bond versions are cool, but not at all functional as a diving tool. (and I say that knowing people don't need these types of watches for diving anymore)

Somehow just now seeing this. I agree with Morgan, the prior gen Speedy was essentially unchanged for 20y. Omega had a massive choice to make before introducing this new generation. They easily could have chosen to evolve it with the same underlying philosophy used on the current Seamaster, or that Rolex has used with the Daytona from 5 to 6 digit, but instead they recommitted to its design and materials fundamentals. That's a huge choice. Most all the improvements were "under the skin" only, which is a classically risky marketing choice... but the right choice for this icon

RJ 10:12 “With modern Tudor it’s very different. Their own, well....KENISSI movement inside”. Hesitation and pause coz it’s NOT Tudor’s OWN movement now, is it RJ? Even Tim Mosso of 1916 noted: “KENISSI went from Tudor manufacture exclusive to basically EVERYWHERE” as in TAG, Breitling, Norqain, Chanel, Bell&Ross and more in contract negotiations.” P.S. This confirms that TUDOR carries no significance besides the hype typical of an outhouse parasite brand created by sell-out journalists (Judas Lex) and marketing hype think-tanks. Consumers were totally manipulated into believing Tudor is in-house. It will forever remain poor man’s Rolex as Wildorf intended.

If you want to be associated with the Rolex clientele, go stand in line at Rolex. However: That clientele went from achievers to posers. If you aspire to achieving stuff in life, get another watch.

My favorite Sea Dwellers of all time are the 1665 and 116600. The 1665 is obviously the OG and the 116600 to me is the true modern successor of the 1665. Followed closely is the 16600 with its neo-vintage charm.

The discussion on toolwatches needing to be light and unobtrusive and old cyclists wearing Pontiac gel very well with my observation that the best toolwatches are often dress watches. I have a couple of smaller, narrower dress watches that may only be 30m water resistant, but they are small enough to be unobtrusive, slim enough never to bump into anything, and quite legible to boot. I don't know if this is a discussion you could have, but have toolwatches shot past the goal for which they were envisioned once upon a time, and become silly? And isn't it time for the renaissance of "just a decent dress watch" for most activities? Shockproofing is by and large the same on all movements, a silicium hairspring would sort magnetism, and beyond 50m of water resistance is unnecessary during 95% of all sports activities.

Yes, there was demand that started growing since Covid and people started liking watches with the increased number of KZbin channels. But the watch makers were getting lazy and started presenting the same thing by just changing the dial colors with a significant increase in prices. Look at '60s & '70 and only take Piaget alone. Has anyone ever been so creative with their design. Everyone started making dive watches. So, one fine day, the collector woke up and started looking at his watch box and found he had covered up the space with so many look alike watches and his expenditure started rising. So he stopped buying watches and put his money into other stuff. It is the lazy watch maker and not only the bubble burst.
