The "trend is to smaller watches"?? Hmmm. Rolex made theirs best selling watch, the Submariner , bigger. The 2024 release of their 42mm titanium yacht master is un-gettable. They also just released the 44mm deepsea in solid gold. So....

Big watches will come back... but not after 2-3 years like now. Only now is the mainstream zeitgeist fully turning back to smaller watches. We are only now seeing consistent downsizing for most new releases. Big watches seem to have been a trend for at least 15 years. Probably 20. So I suspect it might be 2030 before we see a revival of big watches from a new generation of people entering the watch market.

I've noticed some of the 2254.50's have cracked lume or missing edges especially in the pizza slice in the 12 o clock position. Does anyone know if that's a common thing with the Neo vintage omegas and if this can be fixed without replacing the entire dial ?

The acid (lemon, vinegar, tomato juice etc.) used to force or remove a patina favors verdigris, the bronze disease and not the beautiful green patina. This creates copper acetate and accelerates this process. It makes it more susceptible to corrosion and no longer resistant over time. Use only Bakingsods, Natron, toothpaste or Bronze polish

I'm a new, older watch enthusiast who has recently in the last month found myself clicking anytime I see content from Fratello. I really enjoy the "Fratello Talks" segments and appreciate the discussions you all have. I'll never own a lot of the brands mentioned, but when they are brought up there is some historical context given about them and I do want to learn about their significance in the watch industry. Besides learning something new every time I'm always entertained. RJ's (I hope I got his name right) under the radar sneaky quick one liners and dry sense of humor has me laughing. Great job and I look forward to seeing more this year. Happy New Year wishing all of you the best in 2025!

I think Breitling will be one of the brands in focus in 2025. Would you perhaps dedicate an episode covering Breitling? Not predictions, but the three fases: 1) The classic era (start to the 80s) then 2) The Scheider era (with bold and not so elegant watches) and phase 3 from 2017 to 2025 with a more modern take on Breitling. Eposode plot: "What Breitlings from those eras would you bring to the table and why?" A nice challenge for a Fratello Talks episode. :)

An updated Seamaster bracelet is really about due. And I wish they would do something about the thickness. Nacho still has the best modern Seamaster.
I hope Omega goes back to celebrating Apollo anniversaries with refreshing the snoopy and Apollo Soyuz…but I’m not holding my breath.

Based on omega boutique rumors I heard, I’d bet on a titanium moonwatch and the leaked bronze gold seamaster no date on a Milanese is coming around the time of watches and wonders 2025 (to get some attention away from the coronet brand that always dominates on that event).

Great conversation. I was thinking macro when I saw the title: I predict another year of cautious releases from many brands given the down economies around the globe. The Tudor ceramic with the blue dial is available on the US site. And my AD did offer me one a few months ago. I am a great driver.

I agree. Maybe you all need to have a speaking stick - holder is the only one that can speak. There was one video that you seemed to be better but now it is as bad or maybe worse. I'm right at the edge of never watching again. Civility should be discussed.

I want to see a whole new SMP 300. New hands, no toothpaste cap, 3mm thinner, grippable bezel, and a bracelet that tapers. I'd also like to see Tudor going strictly with grade 5 titanium. Another thing, I'd like to see Thierry Stern get arrested from something minor but really embarrassing. It would also be good if microbrands discovered modules and thin bases, you know, for a chronograph under 15mm thick. Finally, I'd like to see the wing of Sellita where the SW-200 is made burn down, with all documents, machines and tooling lost.

Agreed….its getting boring to constantly to hear about Rolex. Yes, it’s a great brand but let’s move on. Let’s talk about Omega Museum collection timepieces or Omega Constellation- Globemaster green dial annual calendar. These are watches that the enthusiasts need to know more about. Nacho, please make this happen.

I hope to see more ultra-thin models in 2025. I also suspect a lot of the smaller (micro)brands will be bought up by the big conglomerates.

Not sure Omega will observe the anniversary of Ed White wearing the Speedy in space - last year was the 55th anniversary of the Apollo XI moon landing and they didn't commemorate that with an anniversary LE despite having done so every 5 years for a long time.

Hello RJ, do you think that the new FOIS bracelet would fit the 1957 Trilogy Speedy? It’s very similar to the Ed White bracelet with quick release clasp. I do agree that the OEM 1957 bracelet is a bit thick and the clasp is quite ugly

When omega says 42 mm does that include winding crown or is it the size of the length of the bezel ?
@robert-janbroer89365 күн бұрын
It’s the size if the case excluding crown (so measured from 10 to 4 o’clock). The bezel diameter is 39.6mm.

Hey guys, maybe a tip for next year: get rid of those fixed microphones! Lex is stuck between the microphone and the wall, you hardly dare to move because of those clumsy things in front of you. Buy a wireless headset microphone so that you have more freedom of movement and your Fratello Talk will be much more dynamic. Happy New Year!

Good show! Thank you. I agree that Rolex is king when talking bracelet, the president is wonderful, wore one for years in the heat of south east Asia and it always felt good, and that Invisible clasp with the crown logo coming out of the links look so sexy.. They did it on the jubilee for a short while, and abandonmed it, petty, it think it looks great, except for the sport's range. The oyster, with the half links, quick micro adjustment, and bean shape links help with perspiration, easy to adjust to perfection, never caught my hairs, and the tapered shape of the bracelet makes it very comfy, Rolex clasps are very well ingeniered, but remain simple, efficient, and faultless. Hard to beat!
