I learned today that true red looks good on all season color palettes. Because it’s a primary color. But when you add a bit of yellow or blue, it skews into warm or cool seasons. I thought that was interesting so wanted to share. I think you’ll be stunning in your red sweater! ❤✨

You can dampening the sweater and putting it in the dryer for intervals of 5 to 10 minutes and that might shrink it down a little bit without felting it.

If the holey detail on the back panel still bothers you, an easy switch might be to make it a saddle shoulder. I know I’d be a giant pain to start over again but it could still give you the drop shoulder vibe without the holes

Wondering how you managed your yarn ends with the stripe hype?
@knitcalifornia5 күн бұрын
Good question! For the body, I cut the ends after every stripe, but then I hated weaving them all in. I got through the top half of the body, then gave up and tied knots in the bottom half of the body 😬 On the sleeves, I carried the yarn up each stripe and it was so much better!

Did you twist the stitch on the increases on both sides on your red sweater? I had that problem when I forgot to twist the one side's increases, but did on the other side.
@brem51611 күн бұрын
I’m not sure specifically what technique you could use but Roxanne Richardson has a playlist titled “increasing and decreasing” with many videos of her swatching. I think she has one about mirroring your increases/decreases

I love the Alchemy sweater, and can't wait to see the final result. maybe you could try KFB for increases
@Katheverett12 күн бұрын
I learned from Patty Lyons that a purl stitch uses more yarn than a knit stitch, so a purl after a knit will make the knit stitch wonky as the extra yarn moves over to the knit stitch. In your case, it is creating a gap. You need to twist your M1L to use less yarn (or find another increase). I will look for a link.
@Katheverett12 күн бұрын
kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3uVh4apd6-gnZosi=IqvNk5M-DwTgxX1F What I found was a M1LP - I’m not sure if this will help, but hopefully!
@knitcalifornia12 күн бұрын
I tried twisting the M1L and also wrapping the purl under the needle vs over and that still didn’t work :/ I think a different increase is my best bet but haven’t had a chance to test any other ones yet!
@Katheverett12 күн бұрын

@sparkle524012 күн бұрын
I don't get the gap when I do M1L, so I am guessing that it is the purl stitch that causes it. Can you move the increase to after a knit stitch?
@knitcalifornia12 күн бұрын
Yeah I think there’s just extra yarn from the M1L and then the purl stitch generally uses more yarn compared to the knit stitch so I think that’s what’s happening here! It didn’t look great either when I brought the increase in by one stitch lol I’ll keep trying!
@sparkle524012 күн бұрын

Leslie -- do the Bookclub Cardigan and then do your (HURRY UP AND RELEASE IT) self-designed tank for underneath: same base yarn but without the mohair. What a killer pairing that would be with the cardigan open --

@avamartinez122013 күн бұрын
I think either short rows (instead of increases) or lifted increases would work for the shoulder on the alchemy. I just finished a test knit that had a sloped shoulder and garter detail on the shoulder and shaping the shoulder with German short rows prevented any gaps
@jenniferwiltrout197513 күн бұрын
Try a left lifted increase and then your purl bump. Google it as there are lots of youtube vids.
@Oldorcuttyarnery13 күн бұрын
Increases…since you have a Purl bump after anyway, how about a kfb? That makes a Purl bump and is a pretty clean increase. Try it in your swatch and let me know what you think!
