There is no need to put Kéfir into the fridge until the fermentation is complete and you've removed the grains. Slowing the fermentation process by refrigerating slows the grains ability to make kefir. And nonfat milk makes the healthiest kefir. Never wash kefir grains, it removes protective bacteria from the grains. Washing kefir grains do not make kefir sweeter. Try it yourself, as your grains grow, separate into two jars and wash one of the grains. You'll taste no difference. It's the fat in the milk and length of fermentation that determines sourness. And once whey has separated from the milk solids the maximum amount of beneficial bacteria has peaked. The whey can be used to create low salt fermented vegetables, like turmeric root, garlic, sauerkraut and kimchi.

0:47 heat milk at low heat (heat control knob at 2 or maximum 3) stir it sparingly. It takes 25 to 30 min to reach 85 or 95C near boiling temp, turn heat off. 1:00 Keep stirring for 3 to 5 min to let out air so the kefir will be thicker. let milk cool down to 35 to 50c. step 3: 1:59 mix every 2 litre of milk with homemade 1 cup (250 ml) kefir [ie, ratio 8:1], pour into glasses and cover with coffee filter, and a rubber band; 3:19 step 4, put the glasses into oven, 4:07 on and off for 1 min before going to bed or 3:54 in winter next to furnace vent for 15 to 18 hours for thicker yoghurt,

Hello, where. can kefir grains be purchased?
@DanLee70
@DanLee70 27 күн бұрын
Studies show maximum probiotics are before the development of whey. This comes about as the grains have used up a significant portion of the Lactose and thus the probiotics number begins to reduce. There are some good scientific studies one can Google about this. However, whey is also good for you, no need to throw anything out. Excellent, informative video!

Is there a difference between storing kefir in the fridge with and without grains? I guess I could store kefir with grains up to three weeks in the fridge but only three days for kefir strained.
@LifeXperienc
@LifeXperienc Ай бұрын
@@goyatea Yes, there is a difference. When storing kefir with grains in the fridge, the fermentation process continues at a slower rate, so it can last up to three weeks. Without grains, the fermentation process stops, and you can store it for longer than a week, typically up to 1-2 weeks, depending on your preference.

@LifeXperienc vasiline is ok in a pinch if its absolutely needed, but it's a dirt and dust magnet for 1 and It's just not a conditioner made for leather. It lacks what is needed to nourish the leather and keep it healthy over time. Over time it will break down the leather fibers and ruin stitching. It also doesn't soak into the learher very well. Leather conditioners have what is needed to keep your leather products nice and supple and keeps them lasting a long time. Like I said in another comment..you should clean them boots really good with some saddle soap and then once they dry condition them with something specifically made for leather. You'll be quite surprised. Cobblers choice is good if you're worried about darkening the leather but won't water proof them. I'd go with an obenauf's leather lp or ll bean boot guard. Both good products. I do lots of leather work and have for years! Any questions please feel free to ask!

Also great for pancakes, marinating chicken or any replacement for yogourt or buttermilk... use a 10%, 15% or 35% fat creams to make a sour cream... kefir cheesecake... there is no limit.
