I used to walk two big greyhounds on a split lead (I didn't have a "splitter" - I bought it that way as a split lead) and they easily walked side by side on one side of me. They seemed to get confidence and security from feeling the other's side.

Super helpful! Thank you so much; I've been wanting a companion for my 2.5 yr old boy for a while now but my husband isn't keen. It's good to know that some of the things I thought would be an issue, don't sound like they were at all!

your right about greyhounds they are fantastic pets especially when retired people are put off thinking they will chase everything believe me they wont i have had a few retired and they are the most layed back loveable pets you ask anyone who has had one they most always get another one and they dont need loads of exercise they would rather curl up in there beds or on the sofa with you

I rescued a bonded pair of whippets - they were F 12 and M 18mths old. That was 7 years ago. The only boundary that I have stood firm on is no dogs in the bed, but they will often sleep on the bed under their own blanket. They have their own coloured collar and lead so that I know which lead to manage when one of them gets into something I don’t want them getting into. I did run a splitter for a while but prefer them on separate leads as they can mostly walk their own walk. I love having two!

Ive got a whippet who is 1/4 Lakeland terrier. More hardy but has the same traits. Wish that people would cross breed more . The obsession with breed standards is a recent thing. Hope the Pedigree police dont ruin what was once a healthy and resilient dog type. Well done on giving her a secure and happy life . Kudos to you

Jess is such a beautiful girl, well loved. I have a rescue greyhound who also doesn't really play with toys but has zoomies which i love to see, it took about 4 months for us to hear her play. She is petrified to go walking but hopefully a behaviourist can help, we already had one to no avail. What I do know is my girl is very happy, she is loving & loves the attention our family give her. Beautiful dogs & a wonderful gentle nature, she absolutely rules our home 😊❤

Aww lovely video Thank you 👌 Our whippet boy is so similar to Jess- he’s a real Mummy’s boy tho ❤ But they are such sensitive, soulful creatures we are lucky to be so loved by them- however much they are total wimpy pansies 😂

I don't know if you live in a cold country, but that's pretty ridiculous. It's important to treat a dog like a dog and not make him too fragile and sensitive with your attitude... I don't think whippets wore coats 200 years ago... even if whippets aren't the strongest or bravest dogs because they're skinny and don't have a lot of hair, don't destroy them mentally by thinking of them as fragile little things to be overprotected. you'll just end up with an anxious, fearful dog that doesn't like life, It's a shame to be one of the fastest animals on the planet, only to end up living in a little basket, dressed in pink and trembling with fear, because your dog's emotions have been completely ruined by a life that's not adapted to them.

i used to look up videos like this before i got a whippet, now i do it to see if i can relate to them. and i do. hehe. my little 3yo whippet is pretty chill for the most part. best thing i ever did was teaching recall when she was still a puppy. we still struggle with cats and yapping small dogs. but i think thats fairly normal

Thank you! I didn't realize that being a couch potato was breed specific. I though my 2 year old was a bit bored and understimulated even though I take her to the dog park and several walks a day. I can relax now!! 😂

I came here looking for Whippet videos and found this. I was diagnosed a few years ago during CBT for BPD and after finishing therapy it didn't do much for me to fix things. I think DBT may work better for me and am going to look into it. Thank you for this video. It's nice to find people I can relate to, everyday can be a real challenge when no-one else can understand how the smallest things feel so stressful and painful.
