Thank you for your service and sacrifice sir. I myself didn't serve in the military, but I have family and friends that did. I'm not ashamed to admit this, but I cry during the National Anthem.

Just in the first 2.5 mins. Please don't tell me you were in country for a few years enlisted and call yourself a combat veteran. I was in a few years myself and didn't have the opportunity to go over (1995-1998) I refuse to call myself a veteran. That's reserved for those who fought. If I find out otherwise about you then I apologize.

3:47 As soon as you saw Whitney and seeing her sweet smile and said She’s “so precious”, I started crying. Lol. She looks so sweet, and her voice and the band are so powerful.

Lady Gaga sang it beautifully also in 2020 at President Biden's inaugeration.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

In my humble opinion - she was smiling because she knew she (and the Angels) would be “ bringing it” down to Earth and at the end of the song - when she sang that lilt at the end - that was the Angels saying to her, “good job and we’ll see you soon.” I full on cry tears of love EVERY time I hear her sing our National Anthem. I can tell that you, Ol’ Man, have a loving heart. 💜 ❤. God bless you.

Her singing and your reaction - both touched my heart. Yes, her voice was from the angelic realm and her rendition was a Balm in Gilead for us all. Then and for Today.

It's like they called her up last minute and she just threw on a tracksuit, flawed everybody in that giant stadium, jumped off the stage and went back home in time to watch Dynasty. I don't think Whitney truly knew how her singing touched people.

I love how emotional that made you feel brother, the anthem means alot to Americans (I'm British but live in the US) and to hear it arranged and sang like that, I can honestly understand the tears. There's power in music, especially when it is sung from the heart.

As a fifteenth-generation American who has family who fought in the Revolutionary War and every war since our national anthem is the closest story of heritage we have to the Biblical story of the atonement of Jesus Christ giving his life so that we can be liberated from sin and death. Now, Americans must pay tribute to those who fought and either lived for our freedoms or died for our freedoms. It is because of their willingness to pay the ultimate sacrifice just as Christ did for the freedoms that we should hold dear and most precious our flag today. God bless the United States of America and God bless those who have served our nation.

Trace did not serve nor did he write this. It was written by 2 songwriters who met the family of a marine killed in (I think) 2003. I believe it is his name on the stone we see in the video. Trace has done many appearances for the troops and has worked tirelessly to raise money for Wounded Warriors and other orgs. who work to help wounded vets and gold star families.

The cops put the veteran in their unit to take him to the hospital, actually. They chose to not arrest him, but help him. Even though the larger cop wasnt a vet, he clearly understood and sided with his partner on this.

The way she nails “proudly”. Most people slide into it because it’s a big jump up from “what so”. She just absolutely nails it. Those transitions from mid-voice to high head voice on “stars” and “ramparts” are extremely difficult. Try it, you’ll see. Hers are flawless. Her full-throated power starting with “and the rockets red glare” and continuing throughout is so unbelievably strong and she does it without any real loss of tone. She was one of a kind.

Yes! Her dynamics were WILD! On “broad stripes…” she was so soft. Then she just builds and builds to that triumphant “brave” punctuated vocal and physically by the fist pumps. No one else comes close! Thanks for your heartfelt reaction, Ol’ Man! You’ve got a new subscriber!❤

My father served in Vietnam, and he got trashed by the VA. He was sprayed with Agent Orange twice, but his first claim was denied and it took a whole year of battling the VA for his claim to be approved. Along with that, the VA and Tricare wouldn't pay for him to have counselling. Dad said if he had stayed in for 2 more years or left 2 years earlier, he would have had more benefits. He also had a friend who came back with such bad PTSD that his wive divorced him and he ended up on the streets. We eventually found out that he had died homeless.

Whitney’s rendition was for a country full of patriotism. Chris’ rendition was a country’s plea to return to unity. Sounded like the USA was weeping through his voice. Two great performances, top two in my books but both fit perfectly for the time and what was going on in the US.

It's a really old video... That number has gone down under President Biden, but nobody talks about that. Trump will make America great again; like America ever gave a fuck about veterans, but 15% corporate tax rates will surely benefit us all like they did under Reagan, where all of us reaped the benefits of trickle down economics. Not just the shareholders.
