So I just stumbled upon this as it was recommended to me after about my 7th video from someone I am subbed to. I always think when people say "this channel is underrated and under viewed" is silly.......that being said this channel is super underrated lol. Easy sub from me. Kind of insane to think if your other vids are just as good as this and only having under 10k subs. Cannot wait to watch your other docs. I was born in 89 so these machines were my later childhood before switching to PC because to me these were the last true consoles. Ever since the 360 Era consoles just started becoming stagnant PCs.

The real loss in gaming is when this generation of kids started to actually caring about frames per second, making them ignore so many games that are way better than what they're playing.

We see the consequences of treating games as "art" and all that now, it technically is but it's the wrong mindset in general and got the wrong kinds of developers involved, like Niel Cuc...er, Druckman, who opposes the notion of making "fun" games. And based on TLOU2, I believe it.

I was too young to understand the original Zelda. Without the manual from just renting the game. The first Zelda I beat was the game boy link's awakening and then I moved on to the super nes, a link to the past, and then of course, nintendo sixty four and yes, I agree what a wonderful franchise.

I remember the launch of the Sega Dreamcast like it was yesterday. There was so many people they sold out in most stores within hours. I wouldn't have gotten mine had I not preordered it. That was a day of many firsts... 1. The graphical leap forward was unlike anything we had ever seen before. For the first time I could see character emotions in a game. 2. There were more launch games for the Dreamcast than any other console launch in history. 3. It was the first time I saw someone sleeping outside all night waiting to get theirs first. 4. It was the biggest celebration of all things Sega I had ever seen before or ever again. It was even bigger than Sonic Tuesday or the failed Saturnday. 5. We all were like one big family celebrating the return of our much beloved Sega. No one was fighting or trying to hurt anyone. You may laugh at this but the PS2 launch was like experiencing what an active battlefield was like and you're surrounding by enemies. 6. We even helped a guy in my line pay off his preoder and game. He was like 50 bucks short so everyone in line all chipped in. 7. The stores had Sega mascots everywhere checking preorder tickets. It was very professional as the guys wearing the costumes were all video game vendors. 8. My friend's and i started a farewell prayer for the Sega Saturn in my line that was copied by almost everyone. We were all pouring out a little for the Saturn. 9. I won my copy of Soul Caliber while waiting in line for my friend's Dreamcast (I was carrying mine). PS- I knew every playable characters name in Soul Caliber.

I lived in the Bronx NYC in 1999… My older brother was 12 years old that summer. I was 4 years old. He knew what a Dreamcast was and wanted it. I think he knew because he heard about it in the school yard playground. I think he also saw it in stores. We ended up getting a Dreamcast in Christmas 2000 with Sonic Adventure and Shenmue. I remember when he first unwrapped the gift, we were all amazed seeing it. After we were done unwrapping gifts, we wanted him to go into mine and my older sisters bedroom and plug it into the tv so we can all see it. It was amazing seeing Sonic Adventure Emerald Coast for the first time.

This game is amazing and as an adult I was shocked to hear so many criticisms. Such an amazing layout. So fun and so innovative for the time, and so much freedom using fun and satisfying features. A simple and easy to follow storyline that was still super engaging with tons of personality. I 100% this game as an adult and am doing it a second time now several years later and am surprised that people find it tedious in a casual playthrough

I remember when the Xbox launched...I didn't want one. I had a launch Dreamcast and PS2. Everything I went I saw gaming kiosks and most games looks terrible too me. Until one faithful day.... GTA3 launched the night before and I had to get my copy the next day from EB....work. As I was picking up my copy I was talking to the cashiers about it. I asked if they got it and how was it? They of course raved about GTA3 so much that they just had to show me the game. After making sure the store was clear of any kids/Karens we fired it up and within minutes I escapist my first mission started beating old ladies in the streets (it was hilarious). As this was happening I heard a group of guys carrying on in the back of the store ignoring GTA3 on launch morning. I actually tried to get their attention "are you from Mars or something?" Well, I had to see what was causing all the commotion but nothing could prepare me for what I was about to witness. They were playing Halo on the Xbox kiosk and it dropped my jaw straight to the floor. I immediately went back up to the counter and declared I wanted Halo on my PS2 and I want it 10 minutes ago. Unfortunately, it was an Xbox exclusive so I begrudgingly preordered my Xbox with Halo: Combat Evolved. From there I became a huge Halo fan for life. Addendum- I have never missed an Playstation or Xbox console in my life. This includes the Series X and PS5.

I got my Playstation 2 on day one and wow....was it insane. I started gaming with the Nes and Master System getting most major new consoles that came out. Nothing was like the PS2 launch. People were fighting, robbing each other, selling them for triple the price, and so much more. I was working on the sale room floor at Walmart when we got our second shipment PS2's for black Friday. We were supposed to have over 50 for sale but Sony only sent 12. My stupid store manager stuck them all on a pallet in Action Alley." He actually believed that customers were going to be orderly and polite. It turned into a massive brawl. Guns were pulled, people got arrested, and some had to be taken out on a stretcher. Insane. People actually knocked doors down when it was announced there was only 12. We're talking broken glass, sliding doors on the ground, and other general mayhem. For reference -I got my PS2 from Toy's R' Us. I won a raffle in order to buy it on day one. Coincidentally, I have never missed a Playstation (or Xbox) launch since their entry into the console industry. This includes the Series X and PS5.

While the playstation was sony’s first game console, but if we count the australian version of the playstation wich could also play video CD’s, we could consider it sony’s next hybrid system, and while the msx was NOT sony’s exclusive system, but it was clearly a hybrid computer and game console in 1, sony did heavily focussed on gaming back in the 80’s withe their msx with accessoires such as controllers wich clearly imitated those nes controllers, It’s sad that the sony msx faded into obscurity, Am stunned that sony could do it all alone with their ps1 with no help from sega or nintendo or atari, neither of their games appeared on the ps1 Well sony only needed to learn from their mistakes, am sure if sony came first with their 32bit system, am sure they would,ve make those same mistakes like those compatitors did.

Sony never liked endorsing VCD compatible tech for Australia, among other brands, as our PlayStation systems are actually derivative of the PAL version from the UK. That model was intentionally made for the majority of Asia only (except the Korea’s).

0:58 "The Playstation 2 which was by far superior to the Dreamcast in just about every aspect." Disagree. It was graphically inferior and had no launch networking therefore less online capabilities and games online. Dreamcast also had VGA support which was cool.

I’m 48 years old now. So I was old enough when the Cube came out to buy all my own shit. I had a PS2 and the Cube. FZero GX and Metroid Prime were light years ahead of their time. To me those two games were just as good if not better than all the games I had on the PS2. The cube was awesome too bad it did not get more 3rd party games. I was a Tekken, Final Fantasy and Resident Evil playing fool.

"I was a Tekken, Final Fantasy and Resident Evil playing fool." Guessing you forgot, GameCube was the place to be for Resident Evil at the time. The Gamecube version of Resident Evil 4 remained the best looking version for a long time and we got Resident Evil Zero along with the Resident Evil [1] remake that both looked amazing with their prerendered scenes. Oh and there was also Code Veronica X.

I love this game. It was the 1st game that got me to imagine designing a video game. It was the 1st game that I grinded to 100% and now my 8 year old son has done the same. I had to re-buy it for my parents house and beat it as well as again for my own home. (My brother's girlfriend got DK64 during a breakup)

Every opinion you've voiced in this video was worse than the one before it. Donkey Kong 64 was the best collect-a-thon ever made and the only people that have disrespect for it are completionists and perfectionist and they deserve all the suffering they experience. It's these endless bad takes by people that didn't put enough time aside to create their retrospectives that are ruining the name of these fantastic classic games.
