Aw man, it was an honour to participate in this- as a kid, I struggled to make friends and never did online stuff, but always wished I could have fun with friends- the week you did this I went from two friends on the DS, being my sibling and one irl friend, to SIXTY SIX. It's definitely sappy, lol, but this event you held let me experience the nostalgia and friendship I longed for as a child :) Thank you for hosting this, it was such a fun time making friends and becoming lowkey famous because of the eevee in my safari!! 😆 I was able to relive the happy memories I did have, and was able to make so many new ones!

My friend safari is a dark type, I have Pawniard, Sneasel, and Inkay. I’m going to miss the online connectivity, XY era was peak Pokémon community imo, SM era is a close 2nd peak for me

I'm so grateful to have found this community when I did, otherwise I probably never would've played gen 6. Gen 6 is one i missed out on, and boy am i glad i got to play through pokemon y the way nintendo intended. I had so much fun hanging out in streams with everyone on friend safari, definitely a very wholesome and fun experience. I only got one shiny during safari week, not one i was hunting for either, but it was still very fun to see everyone come together. Thank you arlie and friends for the amazing time, and I hope there are many more :)

I completely forgot about the services shutting down and was reminded a couple weeks ago. Dug my old 3ds out of storage for some last minute nostalgia, just to find out my battery was swelled and would no longer take a charge. Absolutely gutted.

The Friend Safari filled in a lot of gaps in my living shiny dex that would've otherwise been much more difficult to shiny hunt. And because it was so simple I could double shiny hunt, with my 2DS in one hand and my Switch in the other.

During the last day, the Pokemoonsun subreddit was filled with people interacting with each other, having tons of fun and trading/battling nonstop, and reminding me why Pokémon is such a magical franchise. It was hard accepting that we basically saw the end of 3DS' era for good, but at least we were there together, sharing some final great moments.

I had never found a shiny in the friend safari before, but in the last week of the 3DS online, I've got my first friend safari shiny: a shiny Ditto. A perfect way to say goodbye to the 3DS online. Also, happy birthday Cleffa!

This was a blast to participate in! I got an Espurr, Beartic, Paras, Aipom, and Charmeleon and those middle 3 were all in the same day. I was also like one of 2 or 3 people on the almost 200-person long spreadsheet so I filled my friends list. Trade baiting was rampant and annoying, but I found a Japanese player that actually wanted to trade, and we ended up giving each other a bunch of great stuff like starters, Eevee, Ditto, fossils and pseudos so I have a lot of egg hunting in the future. I traded away Jeff the Deoxys to a trade baiter, but I got a legit Volcanion in return (Shoutout Jeff for its brave sacrifice) and shoutout to the other person who was also trade baited by someone IN THE CHAT, we both instantly recognized the name because their ign was the same as their Twitch name and called them out for it, that was a hilarious moment. So yeah, great time!

I spent the entire last week before the shutdown getting all of the types of safaris on both my 3DS and 3DSXL and I got pretty damn close, I only missed one persons third slot because they didn't get online in time but I have all available pokemon and types on both systems to hunt on both my x and y copies. Im sad to see it go and wish the switch online was free and anything as good as the PSS, but im happy for the time we had. I cant wait to shiny hunt them

Friend Safari was such a beautiful concept and I wish we had something similar in recent generations. Just seeing weird middle stage guys in the wild was cool, let alone a shiny! Edit: You are correct about the shiny odds for Friend Safari!!! A lot of people round down to 1/512 (and I get why) but it is closer to 1/585 with Shiny Charm!! They are around 1/820 without the Charm, so its still better than RE's

Like 6 months ago approximately , I remember having bootup a demo of “Ironfall Invasion”, game that copies gears of war, on my 3ds and look up for a game on the multiplayer mode. I only found one person and we did an entire match of team deathmatch against each other. It was fun! That’s my last great memory for my 3DSXL considering I’ve never played online on my 3ds because I always had singleplayer only games. At least, I’ve experienced one online match against someone before all the servers are closed for good.

My first and only shiny from the friend safari was a shiny pachirisu, because my friend wanted me to catch an army of them since it was their favorite Pokémon, but because I wasn’t paying attention I accidentally ran away from it, and I never got to reclaim it in the friend safari because my game cartridge glitched and couldn’t play for more than a minute without a game error. Got the reclaim in BDSP tho

I had horrible luck with the Friend Safari. Not in terms of finding shinies, in terms of finding the shiny I wanted. Even when the odds were 50/50, or even 67/33, I still ended up getting 5-6 of the wrong shinies and zero of the shinies I wanted.

I miss this feature, the friend safari. The only reason why I haven't restarted my game is because im afraid I'll loose my friend safari when i get to that point... My last shiny hunt was for a shiny emogla that took me weeks but i finally got her and named her cinnamon. I hope the neighbors didn't hear me scream of joy.
