I am so glad you came up on my YT feed. After 7 years of ataxia, peripheral neuropathy and scleritis (but negative for celiac) and seeing professors of neurology and rhuematology, through trial and error I have, over the last 12 months discovered that I have non celiac gluten sensitivity. I am seeing a gastroenterologist who is referring me to Sheffield Hallam Hospital in the UK which specialises in Gluten ataxia. A year ago I had planned my funeral. Now I feel like a 21 year old (I am 62!). Watching your video, a neurologist with gluten sensitivity, who has also had concussion is incredible. At least you really understand what I and many others are going through. Thank you. 🙏

I work in a kitchen, about a month ago, I started using my chefs knife left handed. Now I instinctively grab the knife with the left hand without realizing it right away. My knife left handed knife skills are almost on par with my right hand, but still feels a little awkward at times.

Have you experimented between curcumin and turmeric? I understand that curcumin is more concentrated, but there might be benefits from taking the whole plant (turmeric).
@brainsavetv3 ай бұрын
Great question. I find that turmeric and using the spice is great for maintenance and wellness after recovery but that the higher dosage available in supplement form with the isolated curcuminoid compounds to be more effective during the recovery phase.

Just love your presentation of neurology …. And especially your use of song Ain’t nobody got time for that!! Excellent!! Btw, I barely passed my required Neurology lab class. I got a D but passed. phew!! I was a medical illustrator and my professor whom was a neurosurgeon said no worries it’s not like you are going to be doing brain surgery. That was in the 80s when the theory was you only have so many brain cells until they are all used up and gone.

Informative video, new subscriber. I find this so interesting because I'm trying to figure out if my nightly cereal habit is contributing to my lifelong battle with treatment resistant depression. My favorite snack is actually whole grain cereal. I do believe oatmeal is pretty much gluten free so that's instead the route I need to go. I'm soooo tired of the deep depression coupled with brain fog etc.

Glad you found value! Yeah many times it’s the little things we do everyday that can create health or disease. Let me know how it goes! 🤞🏾 PRO-TIP: be sure to get certified gluten-free oatmeal as there can be cross-contamination.

Thank you Dr for this informative video. I am now wondering if gluten could be the cause of my depression, anxiety and panic. I have not had a brain injury that I’m aware of, and I do eat a load of bread. But in the last year or so, every time I eat pasta I feel yucky later. I used to eat a lot of pasta with no recognizable effect I do eat a lot of gluten free foods but have bread with lunch and dinner daily. I haven’t tried any gluten free breads, partly due to the expense and partly due to the way they look, very white and icky. I have had some level of depression and anxiety my whole life, some of which was due to my upbringing and some of which seems to have just come from sad events or the world situation in general. I am still in recovery from my fourth total breakdown, and have cut a lot of things out of my diet, or minimized my eating them, like cookies, crackers, cake, pizza,etc. now I wonder if gluten is part of the problem, as if it is affecting the brain, it could affect various brain functions. Pardon the pun, but food for thought!
@brainsavetv4 ай бұрын
You’re very welcome @shirleykaye. Yes it’s very possible. I’ve seen gluten cause those s symptoms even with my patients who never had a concussion. Food for thought indeed 😄
