In the books, Varys literally plays Tyrion at every single turn they speak. He tricks Tyrion into removing most of Littlefingers men from power and replacing them with his own(just as an example, the captain of the gold cloaks in the book). Tyrion constantly narrates in his head how good he is at politics and how great he is at the game , and Varys is always quick to reinforce this and compliment him, when in reality he literally gets played like a fiddle by Varys.

I've just reaised that all the time, everyone wanders why Varys has gained his power, while apearing not to play the game. It was all foreshadowing!!

2:40 This here is... Is acting, saying one thing but conveying something else. Tyrion dismisses Varys's remark but has a concerned look on his face and when he is finally hit with his worst fears, that look of frustration. Season 1 through 3 were so fucking good.

Tyrion has a good deal of honor, not as much as one of the Starks, but he also realizes that the way the world is, too much honor will get you killed, and he can do a lot more for people with his head attached, than otherwise.

2:54 Fascinating reaction, isn't it? Considering that Tyrion laughed of such fairytales like Giants and Undead behind the Wall. You can see he was about to tone it down. He already did at Benjen, such amazing way to act the inner conflict.

2:56 When Varys begins talking about Dany's dragons, it's shot so there's a fire burning in the foreground. I would call that brilliant foreshadowing if Season 8 wasn't so poorly executed.
