Hey, why you stop uploading
@DaniloAllenКүн бұрын
I been too busy with work and haven’t had enough time to put together the videos I want at the level of quality I want for this channel. I have uploaded on my other channels here and there, but nothing consistently. Hoping to upload soon again one of these days though. I’m about a day of editing away from finishing a video that’s been in the pipeline for about 2.5 years. So who knows there could maybe be a video within the next month or so

100% agree with your take on UltraMax. It retains very little highlight detail, the colors often look muddy and unpleasent, and it somehow has an unnatural "digital" look to it that reminds me of a cheap compact camera from 2008.

Yeah I have a roll of Kodak Pro Image professional and the role of Kodak color plus and 5 pack of PORTRA 400 iso professional .. I think it's all play with words , the only Film that's a professional film is Kodak PORTRA , but it does depend on the camera using , how you take the picture , the aperture and the lens your using , and if the light meter is working properly

Thanks for the upload. But why making these super boring pictures with this expensive film? Trees and a bridge and then more trees, then more trees, and then a bridge... I don't get it. What's wrong with some variety? This film deserves that. Deserves beter.

Making astrophotography specific instant film cameras with massive film sizes would probably sell amazingly as a niche photography device. It'd be bulky, for certain, but the overall size would make it simple to design and thus fairly inexpensive overall, especially compared to digital cameras with large enough sensors to be useful at 25+ second exposures without star trailing. How the lens system would work would be a question. It might make sense to make it a fixed lens device like traditional instant cams. The device would male a lot of money off the film, since it'd be a new format (I'm thinking it would be designed for ~a12 paper sized pictures since you could always use a set of adapters or a telescopic film framing system to make smaller photos). Maybe it's stupid

The big difference between Gold and Color Plus is that when you correct the Kodak warmth out during scanning, Gold will retain good saturation. That makes Gold more like Portra 400 and 800, where when you don’t want the warmth you can just tell the lab to scan them slightly cool and have a neutral and well saturation, balanced image. With Ultramax, it starts getting a tint in certain regions and Color Plus just becomes pretty muted, pretty fast.
@Maartenols2 ай бұрын
Portra 400 is known for low saturation, and a more natural/realistic/muted look. That makes it very different from Kodak Gold and Ultramax (and more like Color Plus).
@VariTimo2 ай бұрын
@@Maartenols In the end a lot of that depends on how you scant it but Portra 400 has marginally lower saturation at box speed compared to Gold. At notmal magnification it’s hard to tell the difference between Portra 400 and Gold in daylight.

Ektar is the Velvia 50 of colour negative film. And just like Velvia, it is great if your subject profits from saturated colours. Landscape, architecture (some styles)... and drinks/food. And just like Velvia, you would rather not use it for portraits. At least not for "beauty" shots. (Could maybe work for sun-burnt endurance athletes like cyclists or rowers...)

Watched this video a few years ago and thought it was awesome that you can do astrophotography using a Polaroid camera. Finally bought a OneStep+ this weekend and can't wait to give this a try, all thanks to this video! :)

From my experience with Ultramax, I really enjoy the film, it’s definitely more versatile in terms of the speed of the film, it’s not too high speed and it’s not too low speed, it’s perfect for a lot of situations. I do respect your opinion on Ultramax and it’s not the film for everyone, I’m just speaking from my experience with it and it passes as a great option for consumer film

Goes to the effort to Shoot film, complains how you can't edit ektar heavily lol. The point seems to have been missed. Pick the stock, and show what the analog stock gets. Use different scanners sure but leave the heavy editing for digital photography

I made an observation about fingers, based on my own experiences. Notice it's only vertical photos that have it, so it has nothing to do with your grip creeping up into the lens. If your finger was actually touching or overlapping the tiny lens, it would block most of the image and wouldn't look like a finger. Look at the footage of you holding the camera vertically. Your hand that's gripping the camera from above has your pinky hanging in the view. This also happens with sleeves if you're wearing something wide like a coat.

The UltraMax400 is contrasty. If you scan it yourself you should do it with a flat, linear "curve". With it you can optimize the shadow contrast an pull out better details. In the second step you process the pictures in a program of your choice.

Great review. I’m totally the same though. Can’t get past the fact it’s a Polaroid camera. Wanted to get the go for size and style but seeing that the photo quality is tripe. :(
