I feel like ppl don’t give Batman Begins enough credit when it comes to handling three primary antagonists, and doing it in a way where they don’t all feel disjointed with one another.

this is a good critique, and has left me with some stuff to think about--ie the weaknesses of neoliberalism. I'm curious to learn more about the 'atomization of the individual'. What does this mean outside of, say, the atomic suburban nuclear family unit? on the other side, I feel this critique doesn't give enough time considering the merits of the limitless philosophy, namely taking ownership of one's life and circumstances. all people have some number of limiting beliefs that cause them to perpetuate important issues in their lives; in a sense, once you accept that you are causing some % of your own problems, you have the freedom/power to change your circumstances and resolve those problems. while no one is a perfectly empowered/sovereign individual as pictured in the movie, we all have something in our lives we can take ownership of, and shift for the better.

Only bad thing about Andor is thats its tarnished by having a Star Wars label. That franchise is trash, series only was good because it took a dump on all of it and did something completely new.

I think it's significant that Skeen is shown as being very invested in Nemik's wellbeing. When Nemik is gone, Skeen gives into his darkest voices, which becomes a prescient warning to Andor that great personal loss is no excuse to collapse into narrow self-interest

they used editing very similar to "liar game" even music to some degree, an old Japanese drama focusing on playing games and eliminating opponents

In the first (second ?) arc the only thing I didn't like was how the revolutionaries were completely alienated from the Aldhanis (especially when a big part of the plan relied on a ceremony of theirs). History has shown that imperalism has to be fought with the support of the local population, which is usually not difficult to gain (see Cuba, Vietnam etc). ALSO Nemik is stupid even though he is supposed to be the ideologue

[45:19] "I'd like to take this moment to point out that there is never a battle in the foundation series." - There are. In pretty much every short story, there is some space ship fight or other usually either described by one character to another but not elaborated for the reader or mentioned but barely described by the narrator - but at the action-climaxe of the thrid book there is a battle that is called a battle both by characters and by the narrator and that shows us both part of the plans and part of the action and there even is a main character to witness it first-hand. So there about as many battles in the Foundation Trilogy as there are battles in the Hobbit - the book.

If you became intelligent and insightful due to a drug, wouldn't you start to have a moral quandary about inauthenticity and lying about the cause of your success? Why isn't this a modern day Faust?

What i love about the dinner table scene is it ends with an emotional slap as you understand where she is coming from because its not just about her dad. Its that he really doesnt support her being different. So u see her struggle and the dads heartbreak at it being possibly the last conversation he has with her after she leaves

On the one hand I agree with the initial segment of this video, on the other hand... isn't it okay to just have fun sometimes? Like you said that the finale of Book of Boba Fett was just like a child smashing action figures together. And here I am asking, like, is that a problem? I just don't think that even if the world sucks, we should let ourselves get that jaded, otherwise what are we even fighting for?

So the show traded all the subtlety of the original game for cheap emotional bits and straightforward messaging? The “climate change caused the apocalypse” themes are too much on the nose. Bill and Frank's relationship is just a lovey-dovey romance story, it feels like an adaptation of a cheap romantic novel. Kathleen is cartoonish evil and stupid, killing her only doctor and chasing after some kids. Tommy’s “communist” commune is laughably all sunshine and rainbows. David is not as scary as he was in the game. Ellie in the show is a bratty bitch who thinks she’s hot shit. Joel is a weak old man with weak heart in one moment and a brutal killer in the next. One time in the whole show he has problems with his heart and then it’s forgotten and never plays into the story. And then he talks about how meting Ellie stopped him from committing suicide? What?! How? How did Joel stop himself from committing suicide (because of losing Sarah) by adopting Ellie as his daughter, if he just lost Sarah and haven't met Ellie, who wasn't even born yet?! His words imply that he somehow knew he would meet Ellie. There’s just no continuity in the show, it constantly changing its themes and leaves them open.

Andor was like Season 1 of Mandalorian. It tickled the memberberries, was captivating and was full of promise. Post-Andor Star Wars is just a return to Pre-Andor/Post-Mando state of affairs, it's a shit show and nothing is landing well. Space lesbians with powers greater than the force? Obi Wan being a coward, abandoning Luke and letting a vile murderer off the hook because she didn't go through with killing Luke? Lightsabers no longer causing fatalities, and people being able to walk off having a lightsaber driven through their torso??? Yeah, Disney doesn't have a fucking clue what Star Wars is and what it should/could be.

I have to say that both Moses Ingram (Reva) and Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon) made a great job in acting but I still kinda don't like that they cast non white people for those roles. The empire as described from George Lucas was a deeply facist, racist colonial system an in this system non white characters don't really fit well. I like their performances and I'm glad that disney defended them but I still think that the empire shouldn't have high ranking officials that don't represent a racist stereotype. Having them in the empire kina defeeats George Laces point that the empire was deeply racist. For me it's kinda the same as having black people as slave owners. That kinda undermines the racist regime, portrait in the OT
