I feel like VS you is too much and MC is too little

I really like how customizable vintage story is with its various difficulty settings and I like how really in depth it can be but I feel minecraft is more friendly to new players with how it’s much more simplified not that it’s a bad thing to be kinda difficult to learn

I love this horribly deep and complex game.

I feel like the 'lore' may be just the explanation the locals came up with for them... I'm more inclined to believe that technology got out of hand, and that it rebelled using temporal shenanigans similar to the Terminator franchise. The only difference is a clockwork doll theme instead of sleek titanium, making it visually similar to the movie 'Nine'. (Perhaps souls are used to create Drifters?) Another bit of evidence to suggest that these are artificial creations is the fact that the Tinkerer class can take control of one of them. But, people eventually forgot about the technology they created, and thus they came up with their own explanations. As for the explanation of your character's appearance, due to the temporal mess the clockwork AI has created, the world has started pulling people in from other timelines by accident. But, rather than address the temporal 'oopsie' it created, it has decided to go the classic government route of solving a problem by making it worse by doubling down on the temporal nonsense to kill you. Honestly, it could be that the Drifters might be the same few drifters, but have been temporally multiplied, hence how the clockwork machines were able to take over. But, just because the machines 'won', it doesn't mean it didn't come at a terrible cost...their own sanity.

Endgames be like... Minecraft: "You get to kill a dragon!" Me: "Why?" Minecraft: "Um...because they're evil?" Me: "Why? Would killing them change the world at all?" Minecraft: "No, but you can respawn it and do it again. Also, you can raid End cities for Elytra wings!" Me: "So I can't make the Elytra wings? I still have to find them after winning the boss fight?" Minecraft: "Yes, and the only way to repair them is to become sleep deprived and fight very annoying ghost bats." Me: "...dafaq?!?" Vintage Story: "You get to kill clockwork Glados, who has been causing the temporal rifts to send bean-bag clockwork Terminators to kill you." Me: "Awesome. What's the reward?" Vintage Story: "An awesome abandoned library full of lore and rare technology." Me: "Do you also get something to glide like in Minecraft?" Vintage Story: "Yes, you can make it yourself once you've read the blueprints in the library, which is in the room directly after the boss fight." Me: "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!"

So I was thinking up a small ruin for cobblestone to upgrade the house with. And a male and a female bighorn sheep just dropped right into the pit with me. I didn't even know how to make the troughs yet.

Vintage story is just terrafirmacraft but you need to pay to get access.

What the short can't say because it's a short, you don't have time with them : Minecraft anvil cost like 15min of chill farming Vintage Story anvil cost like 2h of hard grinding. But that is two damn good hours. Love the vintage story vibes, the thing get me every time I play.

What I like about Vintage Story is that it gives you a rough idea of how to do things in real life.

speaking of the greenhouses. i was wondering if you could use a greenhouse to keep a small cattail/reed/papyrus patch/farm available during winter if it is heated or if just the greenhouse itself is good enough. i plan to get the game within the next few months so am doing so pre-research.

If you wanna go mining for iron in minecraft its gonna take you about 1 minute if you're quick enough If you wanna go mining for iron in vintage story, be prepared to suffer through harsh seasons and hours, if not days of work if its your first time playing. However, iron in vintage story is built to act like actual iron and not the basic weak armor that minecraft plays it out to be.

In stuff like Minecraft and Factorio, I'm a dedicated "survival Peaceful" player. I don't like fighting for my life every night. But in Vintage Story, the storms are just infrequent enough to be a fun distraction. Sometimes I hide in my storm bunker, but my favourite thing is still wandering out and just pushing out into the world away from the tide of drifters, and then see where I wound up at the end.

How do you get the water source blocks? Just use a bucket like in minecraft?

I think the in game (books tapestries dialog etc) should be taken with a grain of salt considering they're written/said from the perspective of in game characters who may not completely understand whats going on themselves, especially dialog from the traders considering how much time has passed.

Vintage Story is pretty much what I expected Minecraft to become. I love both games. VS is really good and despite still being in development it has so much to offer, and somehow doesn't manage to bore me, it keeps you invested with even the simplest things. It's one of those games that you will end up sinking entire afternoons Really looking for how the game progresses, specially after reading the roadmap. This is gonna be such a great game and even in it's current state it's feels so complete and fun.

Yes. Normally i would also be in the same camp "why not just mod MC", but the engine they have is why this game is worth it. The chiseling tool is next level whennit comes to building. Im not even that good, but even i can put some nice touches with it. Plus its $21, thats pretty damn affordable for what it offers currently and where its going (next update is looking to add mounts and boats)
